I find it funny that "same brightness and color range as previous screens" is an advantage. I.e., the advantage is that it is the same and not worse? Haha... I think, by definition, that is not an advantage -- it just is...

LED uses less power than the present backlighting, which means longer battery life. Think of it as a smaller car engine that gets the same horsepower. You get better fuel efficiency.
 
The MacBook Air does not have a LED screen does it? For some reason I thought it was a lot better quality than the one found in the MacBooks..

The MacBook Air does have an LED..it's the MacBooks that do not. The MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs both have them.
