ya right i like the dvd in the front,
well i hardly use discs, and when i do its at home on my stand with a second screen so its nice in the front, but w/e, im starting to like the macbook keyboard (i have been using my sisters) so i guess on the side could work.

I don't use the disc drive much either. I just dislike it being on the front. But then again, I lived with having the connections on the rear with my TiBook, so I can live with most of these things.

The Nehalem update will be faster than this if it's quad core. Nehalem performs a lot faster than Penryn at similar clocks, so even at dual core it'll close the cap a lot.
Nehalem's 20%~30% faster than Penryn for the same clocks, and a Nehalem core is 15%~20% faster than a Penryn core. So I don't think 2 Nehalem cores can beat 4 Penryn cores.

Also, the Lenovo will go to Nehalem next year too.

I know. I said if it's a quad-core, it'd be faster. If it's a dual-core, it would close the gap some, not that it would match or outperform it.

Someone was comparing it to the current Lenovo, talking about how "even the refresh after this next one won't be even close."

That's what I was responding to.

I don't think the MacBook Pro will go quad-core with Penryn or even with Nehalem. So it'll stay dual-core for the next few revisions.

There's no chance with Penryn, of course. There's a very small one with Nehalem, but we basically agree there.

When do we get the laptop with an integrated Soundboard/mixer? Ya that would have broad appeal too

Seriously not even close to Apple in industrial design.

Sweet! ;)

Personally, I like the sleek lines of the MB, MBA and MBP lines. Really nice when putting in a bag or sleeve.

Many laptop PCs have little things that stick out that get caught on things, and can easily break. Although recently, this has been improving which is nice.
