ad blocking

Havn't tried that, using an Airport Extreme and don't think that supports DDDWRT.

Heh, had to do an internet search to find that one - is that an apple wireless router? If that's the case, I couldn't find that on the DDWRT website anywhere. At any rate, the process is a bit complicated, but it sure would be nice to never have to install an ad blocking program on any device on my network - if I try it, I'll definitely have to post to letcha know how/if it worked.

Yep its an Apple one, I used DDWRT ages ago on a Linksys I had at the time, it was good - pages of options and very powerful. The router based ad block sounds a good idea but no plans to change mine for a while yet. Good luck with installing the new firmware, I remember it was indeed a bit stressful ;)

I've actually got DDWRT up and going on a couple, it's the adblocking thing I hadn't tried yet. After I found a nice E2100L at a local thrift shop for next to nothing, I set up the old WRT54G2 as a repeater bridge, so now all the equipment by the television has wired access to the network and the deck has a better wireless signal.
