By the way, if you haven't seen it yet, Apple put up a guided tour video on the home page.

You can see what kind of shipping is included my going to your account and clicking on View Order Details, shipping method is on the left...mine says "Priority Overnite".

Mine also says Priority Overnite. Nice find, I didn't notice that over there.

This will sound really dumb, but I've only ever bought apple stuff online before. Can you walk into the Apple store and buy a macbook pro and walk out with it in hand? I always thought you had to order them from the store. What if I wanna change the harddrive or something as an upgrade? Can the stores do educational discounts? I'm considering driving down next week if this is true!

Yeah you can walk in and buy one. I think they do upgrades, and i know they do edu discounts.

WOW, what a complete ASS you are. What you think because you live in the US that you are special and people in other countries are somehow 'lower' than you. I live in the US but I do not in anyway think that someone in Franch, Denmark, England, Japan or wherever deserves anything less. As far as WHO CARES about shipping to other countries on the 26th, the people in the other countires care you idiot!

Typical commie babble  What you *******s fail to recognize is that people in other countries ARE 'lower' than us. Otherwise, why would God have created them in some dull commie country like France instead of in the US like decent people? There's a reason they're all trying to come over here, silly.

Now if we could just get all the idiot socialists out of this country, the US would be a lot better place.

Heh. Wonder if I'll get banned for satire.

I'm going to New York on Oktober 31 and I was planning on getting a MacBookPro. What I'm wondering is if the Apple Stores have these in stock? Do I have to order in advance?
The reason I'm asking is because here in Norway it takes weeks to get a MacBookPro..

Go to the one on 59 and 5th, SE corner of Central Park. Its one of the flagship stores (if not the one), only one open 24/7. They usually have everything on stock.;)

As people have pointed out in other posts it is a worlwide launch, the counters on different countries version of the Apple site are counting down to their Oct 26th at 6pm and so most everyone else will get it before the US anyway.

so what do you think? you get the shirt for just showing up?

YES!

Leopard arrives Friday, October 26.
The world premiere of Leopard, the biggest upgrade to Mac OS X, is October 26. And on that big day, the Apple Retail Store is the place to be. Join us from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and be the first to experience the world’s most advanced operating system. And if you’re one of the first 500 guests, you’ll go home with a special edition Leopard T-shirt. See you there.

Is the Leopard preview giving anyone else problems? The images are behind what the dude is saying etc. It pauses and stutters. I downloaded it. Maybe it's this crappy work PC I'm on.

When I was waiting in line for my iPhone, I didn't see anyone there that would've fit into the shirts they were giving away. It was mostly average weight, over caffeinated 20-something year olds. Does someone in Apple Marketing really think that most Apple users are overweight? Or is it the ghetto-fabulous style?

We're the over-ambitious ones that travel far and wide to Mac Mecca to pick up a product in person. We're burning calories on the way! ...Okay, so most of us drive, and maybe we stopped to get some bakery from the coffee shop right by the store, but still. True, many Americans are overweight, but what about the rest of us? I call discrimination!! And this coming from a company named after a fruit.

It would be unreasonable to expect Apple to cater to everyones sizes and sepcifically gie out t-shirts for each person based on their size requirments. As is the case with most t-shirt giveaways from any company, the one size fits all approach is the easiest to deliver.

You will be getting the update disks, NOT the full version that Apple is selling for $129. If you ever need to re-install Leopard you will not be able to do it with update disk unless you install Tiger (or the previous OS) first. And that's a pain in the ass.

Complete nonsense.

What is this based on?
Previous experiences with Windows?

Yeah but their one size fit almost no one.

No Drop In Discs!

FYI--The quote in this story about discs being included with new Macs IS NOT TRUE.

I have confirmed with Apple (both employees and their higher-ups, as well as business reps from the stores) that there will be NO DROP-IN DISCS included with new Macs.

If you buy a new Mac on launch day you WILL NOT RECEIVE LEOPARD as a drop-in. You'll need to do the mail-in to get a disc.

I have submitted this information to MacRumors so that they can update their post, but until then I wanted everyone to know.

If that turns out to be true it really confirms my suspicions that OS 10.5 Leopard is selling like hot cakes and Apple is ( in the beginning ) going to have some problems keeping stock.

Or they simply wont have enough made cause it took so damn long to get it GM.

i agree. Apple doesn't make 'full' and 'upgrade' versions of OSX as Microsoft does with Windows, OSX always comes in ONE version only that you can either use for a full clean install or an upgrade, your choice, but there isn't two separate versions out there.

if the one size is overly large then it should fit most as the argument earlier was that the t-shirt are too big and not everyone is overweight

What? So, if the shirt doesn't fit because it's too large it should fit most people because the shirts are too big and most people aren't? Are you saying it should fit because a skinny person can fit into a huge shirt but a huge person can't fit into a skinny shirt? My head hurts.

Yeah, I'm surprised there's so much discussion about something that's just basic common sense.

A little person can wear a big shirt, it will be baggy.
A big person won't fit into a small shirt.

Therefore a big shirt can be worn by more people which is why "one-size" items are big.
