How can I change the icon of the computer in the Finder sidebar (by default an old iMac, here named "Arnoz"):

Thanks!

Ctrl+Click on app Icon you want, Select Get info, Select and press :apple:c to Copy the icon. Next, go to the Finder sidebar icon, Ctrl+Click and select Get Info. Paste the icon you copied over the icon on the top left corner. Just select the top left corner icon and paste. :)

It doesn't work for this element, that's why I was asking :) And I don't know in which Ressource the icon is stored...

That's cool, but seems like a waste of hard drive space, and stuff.

I'm happy with the Tiger look for now.

Eventually. But like I said, I'm happy with Tiger right now.

Mostly Leopard, from what I see, is eye candy.

Maybe an icon program like CandyBar can help you locate and change your icon. Ive used Candybar for a while now...works great at finding and replacing icons with drag and drop. Check it out.

I tried to change the "Computer" icon but it didn't work. All other icons have changed though. So I think I would to change it directly from a Ressource file like those in /System/Library/CoreServices.

some leopard files that were requested

http://download.yousendit.com/17C1E97C19543496

that is the download link for a zip file that contains the following files:

- System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle
- System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Resources

- Library/FrameWorks/NavigationServices.framework/Ressources

The link is good for i believe 7 days and only 100 downloads, so dl quickly if you need them to help imitate leopard.

unfortunately I was not able to find any apps themselves, just their install packages (I had to remove leopard unless I wanted it as my primary os, and it ran too slow for that). I tried opening the package files (found in /system/library/install/packages) with pacifist but was unable to. I will be uploading the three files/directories I was able to fetch asap, probably thursday and July 4 is a major holiday here in the US and I will be gone all day. Also, the coreservices/frontrow is non-existant along with a few other files mentioned from the coreservices folder.

Thanks! If you have other files to share, don't hesitate t do it :D

I looked for the other files you requested but they don't exist as per specified on the install dvd. And no offense to anyone here, but I'm not willing to install leopard and then have to reinstall Tiger etc just to get those files.

No problem of course! Thanks for sharing the other files, though.

Could any of you send me these 3 files from the WWDC Leopard preview:
- System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle
- System/Library/CoreServices/Finder
- System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Resources
I would like to extract some icons from there...

EDIT: I've seen it in a screenshot in this topic: how do you display the number of items in the trash, like Mail and new e-mails?

Thanks a bunch!

could any of you send me the three files, too??

please :) :) ?

…Leopard with its 300 new features must have some top secret features in there that nobody outside of Apple knows about. 300 new features does sound a lot.

I reckon we know everything already, everything major that is. I'm sure they are using things like redesigned toolbar icons and things of that nature in their "300 new features" list.

Newbie Question Re: Leopard Dock

Okay, I'm still running Tiger and will more than likely stick with it for the moment.

Regarding the Leopard style dock, I've seen something on Mac OS X Hints that just advises you move the Dock.app from Tiger to Leopard, which apparently works.

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20071031111443331

Forgive me if I'm stating the horribly obvious here and this clearly wouldn't work, but could you transfer the Leopard Dock.app to Tiger?

This may make it clear how little I know about programming/serious modding of any kind :)

Also, its always bothered me with the OS X docks that they resize with the icons. I know it would look stupid if they stayed the same size when your icons are growing, but could a dock be modded so that it covered the whole bottom of the screen? ie. Just the shelf spanning the screen, without the sides of it visible?

That's a great question.

I installed Leopard, make a back-up disk on my portable Firewire drive and reverted back to Tiger. I had too many problems running Leopard. Non of my PS and AE plug-ins where working which I use everyday for work. Bummer... Hopefully future tweeks will fix EVERYTHING and not only Adobe products.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Liger is an absolutely perfect Leopard GUIkit. Transparency is perfect, it works in every application, everything is stunningly beautiful. Here's what I'm currently using:

I like the Tiger dock better, so I'm going to stick with that. This theme is absolutely -amazing-. I'm really excited about it.

Here's what the Finder looks like (I haven't added spaces for my toolbar buttons yet). This was taken before I changed my wallpaper to the cool picture of my MBP.
