One other thing, has anyone else seen this?? I drapped the apps folder into the dock, but the icon is the same as the address book.

that's a stack dude. it takes on the first icon in the folder...
Is there not a way to dictate which icon is displayed? That would seriously suck if not--I'm not to keen about having the Address Book front and center all the time. A generic Applications folder icon would have been nice.

I figured a way to do it, although it seems like an unnecessary workaround. Created a new folder in apps titled A. Changed the icon from the standard folder icon to the apps folder icon.

The 2nd picture is the grid view after clicking on that stack. As you can see the A folder is sitting just ahead of the address book.

I know next to nothing about terminal so before I try this, how do you bring the dock back to its original state after changing it to 2d?
I imagine you would change the part that says "... -boolean YES" to "... -boolean NO".

That's a fake btw.....looks like OS9 to me. Also look at the copyright dates.

Sure not Leopard or OS X.
I believe that was Mac OS 10.0.

I couldnt even get the dock to do the 2d thing with the terminal string that was posted.

edit - nm, got it to work. I think I do like this more than the shelf dock.

edit 2 - yes, changing boolean to NO brings back the shelf.

With all the talk about the UI changes in Leopard... I'm just glad it doesn't look like this anymore http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=244427909&size=o

Man, how did I ever tolerate that? What was I THINKING?

That was state of the art back in 2000/2001. Appearance wise it was miles ahead of anything anyone else had in a consumer OS, which cannot be said of Leopard today.

Err… no it's not. It's the public beta. Don't believe me? Go here and see just how the OS evolved, it's really great site and very interesting if you like this kind of thing.

I believe that was Mac OS 10.0.

Close, but not quite. Notice the music player in the Dock? Although this shipped with the Public Beta, by the time 10.0 rolled off the shelves we had iTunes version 1.0, so it was not needed.

I hope there's a way to get the rounded corners of the menubar back. :(

Just think of the 20 extra pixels you get back!

Feature 301!

And for those of you who have “obtained” Leopard early, what's the fun in opening your presents on Christmas Eve!? :)

Ooo, that's good. How'd you get it to use the Applications folder for that particular folder though?

Its just a standard folder with the icon changed to the apps folder icon.

Click "get info" on the apps folder. Click once on the icon, it will highlight it. Edit>copy (or command+c). Then go to the A folder in apps, get info, highlight the icon an paste.

Wtf?

The dock looks like crap on the side.. if you like it there why not go back to windows...

Really? I've been a mac user my entire life and my Dock is on the side...try using a 12" screen for a bit and let me know which is better.

Isn't it a personal preference thing? Why would this even be an issue?
