that's ridiculous.
most ppl have no clue it's coming out and they wouldn't think much of it if they knew.
apple products need advertising like everything else.
I'd be willing to guess that most of the adds will be AT&T
I do not know about that. It must depend on your area. Here in Southern California it is more known than the first one from my personal experience. I attend a UC school (high population) travel to many areas, and deal with investment clients on a daily basis. When the first one came out I had lots of people asking what it was... and I heard people ask if the voyager was an iPhone. Now almost everytime I pull my iPHone out in public someone either asks if I am getting the new one, or tells me they will get the new one. Interesting side note: lots of adults have been telling me they will not only be getting any iPhone but want to stand in line or have a kid stand in line for them. You'd be surprised. I still meet plenty of people who've never even heard of the iphone.
It's big news to geeks. Beyond that, it needs advertising. Another phone launched? Non-geeks simply don't care. That's like asking me to care about who the release of a new mercedes.
iPhone 3G is huge in the areas I am in (San Diego, Inland Valley, Orange County, Riverside County) sure it is the same else where.
10 person survey explains the knowledge of the iPhone 3G? The fact that the people who do not know about it were coming out of an Apple store is probably good for Apple. Considering most the people I know getting one never go to the Apple store... halo effect.I agree, most of the people we interviewed have no idea that 3G iPhone is coming out let alone what 3G is, and the interview wasn't done in one of the wealthiest area in SF Bay Area
Maybe Apple is trying to figure out how to trump the Instinct? Those comparison sure is embarrassing for iPhone users whenever its shown.
Instinct is just a good way to hold sprint customers and satisfy those who are stuck to that network or dont have ATT.
You read the reviews and you will see almost every analyst says the above and that ATT customers wont switch over.
and then there is the measly 2%... http://www.appleinsider.com/article...ective_smartphone_buyers_eying_iphone_3g.html
