“whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one.”

scientist — a person learned in science

So, she’s forced out of the library and not allowed to read Darwin.

every reasonable person interpretEd it as “working as a“ or “practicing” scientist. Which you probably would have as well if Brie Larson hadn’t been the one in it.

"I'm not sexist, BUT if women just worked harder and stopped insisting on getting paid..."

WHY? Why do some here keep saying Apple should buy Disney? Is Disney for sale? Does Apple need to own everything to a point that it's monopolizing the industry? Buying Disney doesn't mean Apple would do it justice. Steve Ballmer taking the CEO position at Microsoft nearly destroyed Microsoft.
I wouldn't say they'd be a true monopoly. They're both big companies but in terms of tv content? it wouldn't be a monopoly in that regard, it would blend well. And instead of Apple tv+, Disney+, ESPN+, and HULU. those 4 apps would be one app under one roof. It would make it irrelevant to even think about getting another streaming service. Oh, speaking of monopolies At&T owns DC, HBO, Warner bros and etc. Just to name a few. Disney owns star wars, marvel and etc. One company with hardly any content buying wouldn't make Disney a bigger monopoly than they are today.

Bri is one of the most interesting actor's in Hollywood, and because she dares to speak her mind she gets a lot of sexist flack online (both here and on reddit and twitter). Captain Marvel was one of the better Marvel movies of the last ten years and I look forward to watching this.

Probably needed the men are evil and oppress women hook to get Larson to sign on in the first place. Got to push the narrative and this will resonate with a large part of their target audience. I will avoid as I don't like being preached at in my entertainment.

The actual stereotype is that women, in general, are less interested in science then men, not that the ones who are interested can't do well in the field. There are plenty of women who do extremely well in science (for example Marie Curie, 2 Nobel prizes). They do have the quality that they are good at what they do though. Ones that aren't good are the ones that say the evil male oppressor forced them out. Likely the case in this story but it won't be spun that way.

The post I quoted earlier stated to buy DISNEY, not the Disney TV content or Disney's video streaming division. Of course you know there's a lot more to Disney such as their theme parks, Disney stores and their major motion pictures. Firstly Apple doesn't buy big companies, so that post earlier was nonsensical. Secondly if this did happen along with other acquisitions of big companies it most certainly would create a monopoly for Apple. What about Apple making cars? Do you think it's good for the car industry if Apple bought up all the auto manufacturers? Do you honestly think it would sit well with people if everything they bought was controlled by Apple or just one major company?

It's fine that Disney owns Star Wars, Marvel and the likes along with AT&T's acquisitions you mentioned because those are divisions in the movie industry. They are not major corporations.
