Buying from Apple is always safer, quicker and less of a hassle. Lets be real, Apple has the best customer service in town.

That has certainly been my personal experience. Faster, better tracking and unparalleled service. I try to deal with AT&T directly as little as humanly possible.

Bought my iPhone and iPhone 3G from AT&T, both took more than a week to be received (months after their respective releases). For previous devices average was 3 to 10 days.

Bought iPhone 4 a few weeks after introduction direct from Apple on line, had it in 2 days.

I bought my iPhone 5 within two minutes of the Apple Store going live on release night. I had the AT&T store on a separate screen, and would probably have gone with whichever came up first. Out of curiosity I waited for the AT&T store to come up- it took 15 minutes after I completed my Apple transaction, or about 17 minutes later.

iPhone 5 is the first phone of any kind I have ever had a problem with- earpiece stopped working. Replacement in an Apple store (I have two within 15 minutes) took a few minutes and was flawless.

I would try AT&T again, I got mine replaced due too the phone not performing on advertised LTE speeds. I proved it was a hardware issue and they exchanged it under the 30 day guarantee

I am tempted to ask again, sometimes all of that just depends who you talk to. The woman that sold me the phone wasn't there when I called, might be different.

I could just return it without saying anything, but then I don't know how that would work since I upgraded early.. if I could reupgrade early or not. I wouldn't mind taking it back and getting a black one just because my 4, 4S, and now 5 have all been white. But I guess we shall see. Might head off to the store if they have any in stock. Getting very frustrated and impatient with the current 5 I've got.

I tried the calibrating thing from the link you sent me and it unfortunately didn't work. I'm 100% sure it's just a hardware issue. Thanks for the suggestion though, wish it would've fixed mine.
