Let's be honest... Who really uses FaceTime?

I use FaceTime at least once a week to catch up with the happenings of friends that don't live near me any more.

I FaceTime my kids when I travel for work and it's awesome! My three year old loves it. Much easier for my wife to hold an iPhone then line them up on front of a computer.

We FaceTime their aunts and uncles and grandparents. We all have iPhones.

FaceTime without the kids, just awkward unless you have something you want to show someone.

I actually do use FaceTime. Considering that my girlfriend lives overseas and I find it the cheapest way to communicate (using school wifi (free)). So it saves me a ton of money from buying international calling cards. But of course it will eat up my battery. I'd rather have FaceTime eat my battery then paying a fee for calling internationally.

Used it for the first time recently. I was sick as a dog, hunkering down on the sofa when I got a FaceTime call from my brother an nephew. I thought it was really cool to be able to see and hear them without risk of passing my cold on.

Facetime is nice but for GUARANTEED usage I prefer Tango.

This way I don't have to be on WiFi or worry if they are.

I use it daily to see my daughter while I am at work. She loves it and asks my wife to Facetime me many times each day. Its wonderful when having a tough day at work to see my 2 year olds smiling face.

I don't use it for iPhone or Mac. No one I know who has an iPhone has WiFi or most of the time they're on 3G and can't use it.

I usually will record a short video message and MMS/iMessage it to my friends and they respond in kind.

Once in a while, I'll use Tango which works over 3G and is cross-platform. I have one girl[friend] on Android or something (not iOS) who Tango works with.

Just got my iPhone last week so havent used yet however my son and his gf use it constantly I call it their gazing time I always tell him how long can u two look at each other lol

Initial use

I only use it to try to test it out and see how it worked. Until wifi is available everywhere, it is going to have only a small number of users that depend on it.

Kids in College?

Since all my family has FaceTime capable devices, my kids in College FaceTime us all the time. It's cool enough for them to FaceTime instead of Texting all the time. Anyway...that's my situation.

I am stationed away from home several months at a time. My kids and I FaceTime all the time. Most times we use our Macs but often enough I'll use my iPhone or they will use their iPod touch to show around the house or yard or whatever when it is easier than trying to move a laptop around.

I use it so my sister and nephew can talk to her niece and his cousin. Comes in handy for that. Otherwise I don't use it much outside of that.

I use it when I'm travelling to Chicago for work. Apparently, all hotels there have installed an AT&T blocker, because I get the worst reception ever out there, with both my AT&T iPhone and Blackberry. But with free hotel wifi, I can Facetime back home instead of calling and dealing with poor reception, dropped calls, missing words, etc.

I started using it when I gave my wife my iPhone 4 and I got the 4S. Now my wife calls me at work a few times a week and my 9 month old daughter loves to facetime with me.

The wife and I use it often. In this area there's a huge abundance of 802.11 signals -- AT&T and/or the cable company have a hotspot on nearly every street corner. Aside from that we both have Wifi coverage 100% of the work day.

We're likely to use it more as more family members receive FaceTime capable devices (the entire extended family is Mac-centric). My parents, for example, will have an iPad 3 once they're launched, and they spend much of their time in FL. They'll be able to see their grandkids (once there are grandkids) with ease despite being 1k+ miles away. Sure, there are other video conferencing solutions out there (Skype, Tango, etc), many of which are cross-platform and work over 3G. For our usage scenarios we don't need them to be cross-platform or 3G capable (have a hotspot for the latter, if needed, anyway). Relatively speaking, FT is much easier to use for the non-techy family members, and the video quality very good.

I use it quite frequently with my parents. The only problem is that I cannot get it to ring for them, but they can call me every time. I suspect it has to do with an IP situation that I will remedy when I go home for xmas this year.

We tried both devices on my network last time they visited and both could send and receive calls no problem.

It's kinda cool because rather than sending photos of my Xmas decorations or what I bought, I can take them on a visual tour and vice versa.

Who really uses FaceTime? I asked a lot of people I know with the iP4 and only one said yes. So do you use FaceTime?

I often FaceTime with my family who are overseas (iPod Touches & iPad), and with my gal on her MacBook. It's simple and has excellent quality, I just wish it worked when I was on 3G.
