I want mine to be transparent too!!
I attached the wallpaper I'm using that does it. I used photoshop to lighten the status bar area. It only works on wallpapers that are darker than how light the statusbar is when you set a white background.

Of course I have downloaded apps! As for getting them all on the second page, it was simply re-arranging and moving them all. Just tested now and it doesn't seem to reset after a sync, though that may be because I have apps turned off during syncing.
As people have mentioned, you can change the name of the folder whilst connected to iTunes. You can also install the web-app 'Glyphboard' by going to http://mrgan.com/gb/ on your phone. This allows you to copy various symbols to the clipboard and simply paste them in when naming your folders.
Finally, I know the layout is the same. But here's an update
His phone is jailbroken. Notice the carrier logo. So i'm assuming thats 3GS on iOS 4
Good to know someone's using it. It was much more time intensive to create than I had ever imagined when I started. I must have restarted with a new, slightly different idea about 5 or 6 times before I got it how I liked it.
Thanks for the work! I'm in the process re watching all the episodes of TNG in order, so I'm sporting this to support my inner dork/geek side...

Hey Guys - I know there are other threads showing wallpaper and home screens for the iPhone 4. However, I just thought it would be cool to have a thread dedicated to funky layouts and backgrounds.
You'll see that in my 2nd page I have placed all of my favorite apps in the 2 center columns with a rows of folders on the left and right edges. Has anyone else done this yet?

Man this sucks, on the 3GS there's a noticeable line right under where the photoshopped area is. Would be great if it worked properly :\
