I love the look of the 12, 13, and 14 model iPhones. I have loved my 12 PM, 13 PM, and 14 PM. The nostalgia for the iPhones 4 and 5 will always be strong.

But I picked up my son’s iPhone 11 to update it this evening, and it reminded me what a better experience swiping up to unlock and go to the home screen was on the rounded glass of the X, XS, and 11 models. It just feels so much better.

Anyways… love the look of a flat screen and edges, but Apple needs to go back to at least a rounded bottom screen edge.

You want to go back - I'm still trying to leave! Four more months and my bought brand new in February 2021 11 Pro Max will be paid off. Between my 2015 6s+, my 2019 Pixel 3a XL and now my 11PM I've had all the rounded bottoms I can stand for the last 7 plus years.

I'm thinking the iPhone 15 around the time that the iPhone 17 launches. In February 2023 my 11PM will be barely two years old. My 6s+ is still totally functional (I use it on a second line) and it took seven years to get to its final version of iOS.

So…2024-2025? I've spent 5+ years on two phones before so it's not really a big deal to me. The thing is I use my phones as phones. What else they can do I already use other devices (mainly computers) for and I don't need powerful cameras. So being on a phone for these lengths of time really isn't that problematic to me.

Totally. I like the leak possibility the 15 will have slightly rounded bottoms and flat top hard edge like the 12-14. Bottom would be like the iPhone 5C (which was a comfy phone had it for a few months). Fl

No way. I liked the iPhone 5 and I'm glad Apple went to squared off edges. I can deal with a little rounding of the square but nothing like the old iPhone style
Sharp screen edges were fine with the home button. But with the swipe up action, the rounded screen edge is much smoother and more comfortable.

I love the form of the flat screens, but I’m less happy with the function. Still, I’ll happily use my 14 PM and whatever comes next whether they round off the bottoms or not.

I didn’t think of that. My phone is in a case so the shape of the case is relative to the shape of the phone but the bottom edge is always covered

Many are still on those rounded edge phones. So when they upgrade in future they would get the same old design.

Every time I see my
dads phone 11 pro, I feel it looks way more modern compared to my 13 pro, and also a lot more comfortable to hold. I hope we will see a return of rounded edges on the 15.

I used SEs for the past 5-6 years but just upgraded to a 13 Mini earlier this year. I have to say, I prefer the flat edges. I didn't hate the rounded edges of the SEs, but the flat edges remind me of the iPhone 5 before and just feels more comfortable in my hand. To some minor degree, the rounded edges always made me feel like the phone was going to slip out of my hand.

My son have my XS, and every time I pick it up I miss the rounded design. So yes, for me I’d love to have that come back. It feels more premium too than my 13 Pro.

My iPhone 5 with flat edges was always way more comfortable to hold.

I hate having to maintain a constant grip on a rounded edge because there is less surface area to hold on to than with a flat side. Your hand gets tired after a while.

Original iPhone and 3G felt amazing. Let’s go back to pebble shaped tiny phones, I’d buy it.
My wife and I were shopping for our first phones back in 1999 (at a now defunct office store). There was this little thing at the time, about the size of a candy bar that folded up even smaller. All I could see was it being in my pocket and me losing it because it was too dang small.

One of my many reasons for always preferring larger phones.

I have an HTC Touch Pro that I used from 2009 to 2012. Smaller than a 3GS. Got my iPhone 5 in 2012 and thought I'd finally gotten a large phone.

Little did I know!

iPhone 14 series is the 3rd revision of the same design since iPhone 12. Seems like Apple is going with 3 years in using the same design (6 to 7, X to 11, 12 to 14). So I'd expect iPhone 15 will be a redesign, together with USB-C.

Assuming you are entirely correct on this (and it makes sense) I may have to go to the 14 PM whenever I upgrade. If the 15 has rounded sides that'll be the case. I've waited since the 6 series for flat sides to come back and I want my flat sides.

Ah yes, the freakishly tall iPhone 5. It felt like this:

There was this Nokia phone (I don't remember the model) that you could about cover all the number buttons with your thumb. You had to use your fingernail to dial, it was so small...

That could have been it. I mean it was literally the size of a pack of gum or something.
