We were speaking in reference to iPhones. Hence why he said, "gives 4g service FOR IPHONES."

Edit: I'm not sure if you're "read" is past or present tense. Changes the meaning of your post substantially.

Does it matter? I admit I was wrong. Move along.

Edit: excuse my brevity..."I read"

This will be great for New Yorkers and people stuck on Verizon, most others aren't really affected by it. Faux G isn't 4G, but it's really good nonetheless. Sticking with my 4S for a while.

I know it's "extremely likely" that the new iPhone will have LTE support.
This is mostly a thread toward people in the US.

Which carrier will you be going with?

I currently have AT&T but am switching to Verizon for the superior LTE coverage, no charges for FaceTime (I'm looking at you AT&T), and free tethering/personal hotspot with Verizon's recently released plans.

I wan't Verizon for LTE but I have a year left on my contract with ATT.

I'll go with T-Mobile because next year, they will introduce the first LTE-Advanced network in the world. (Plus, the next iPhone's LTE chip can support LTE-A because it's backwards compatible).

Then you are in the same situation as me. Here is the thing.. to do an early upgrade with AT&T you need to play the subsidized price + $250. So for the $199 version its $199.99+$250= $450+tax.

However if you wanted to switch you could pay the ETF of approx. $215 and then go to Verizon and get the new iPhone at the subsidized $199 price.

Therefore early upgrade on AT&T =$450 + tax.
Canceling and switching to Verizon = approx. $415 + tax.

Don't forget VZW's awesome upgrade fee! In the end, it's a wash. :)

These "Big two" seem to be doing a lot of the same things lately. I wonder if we are going to hear some price fixing accusations here at some point. Hmmmm.....

AT&T's update fee is $6 bucks more anyway, so Verizon would still come out ahead.

Yea I get that. But I also can't afford to pay $100/ month for Verizon's terrible plans. It's nearly $30 extra a month. By next year, I'll be 4 months from graduating and having a real job so it won't matter then

I'll be saving money as I'm moving from an individual plan to a share everything. (Finally tethering!) :p

There's no charge for face time cause you'll be on a limited data plan. AT&T won't charge either if you're on a limited data plan.

You won't get Facetime on the individual 200MB, 300MB, 2GB or 3GB plans, at least not without JBing. That's the easy solution, people have been doing it since before it was allowed on any cellular plans.

Of course it'll have LTE, being a new phone. Why wouldn't they add it?

Lets also say the new iPhone will have a native Playboy app.

Which is better discount wise if going on the new mobile sharing plans? AT&T or Verizon?

I know AT&T you only get the discount on the data plan, so what it would be like with Verizon?

Been with AT&T for almost 10 years (they were cingular then) and LTE coverage is my area is great (30-40mps on my HTC One X) much faster than the 10-20mps I get on my Verizon MiFi. Plus I still have my unlimited plan and get a 20% discount. CS has also been great in my experience, while dealing with Verizon's has always been a pain.

Absolutely! I'm hoping the newer chip will support our frequency bands...
At least you already have decent LTE coverage back home - our carriers are still working on that ;)
Anyway, we'll know more in a couple of weeks...

Yes totally :) But only in the biggest cities. Thankfully I just moved to the biggest one :D

Another thing is that Apple got burned pretty hard in many countries, having to remove adds, refund money, and lost a bit money on the LTE commercials for iPad 3 in many countries, including Norway.

This is by no means a guarantee that they will be better, just that if they announce LTE in Norwegian or these countries ads, It will definitively be supported. But something tells me that they will announce the frequencies or countries in the keynote.

Their pricing on both their new Share plans are very very similar. However Verizon has LTE networks in over 250 more cities than AT&T. Something to keep in mind if you are buying an LTE iPhone.

I think I'll be buying the iPhone 5 unlocked at full retail price so I can enjoy TMobile's outstanding 4G LTE service for just $30 a month when you bring your own phone. You'd have to be an idiot not to.
