I use a LG 43UD79B with my Mac Studio, connected using USB-C and resolution set to 3520x1980 @ 60Hz, I'm totally fine with this, no need to buy a Studio display.

Same - in the monitor settings there's a choice for DP. It was 1.2 ootb so I changed it to 1.4.

o.. you guys meant the settings on the monitor.. I was looking for the settings on my MacBook Pro.. anyways I did just try to disable thunderbolt on the monitor and tested both Display port 1.2 and 1.4 and with the same results.. I did check the Display port support for my MacBook 2016 and it appears that it only support up to v1.2 so it would meant that 5k resolution would not be supported anyways..

Still seems weird to me. Do you have access to an Apple Store? You could bring your laptop in and try connecting it to the Studio Display which is even higher resolution (nominally 5k 3k). So if that works then something else is amiss.

If you use an Apple computer, use an Apple monitor. They are specifically made for each other.

Hi all,

I'm currently using an LG 32UN880 4K and purchased that for almost 1/3 the price of a Studio Display, and I haven't regretted it. This is a great monitor, and after Calibrating it using a Spyder, I've been happy with the colours.
I love the look of the Studio Display, but for that price, I would get another Laptop.

In terms of the LG 5K2K monitor, I'm looking at getting that one, as I do missing the extra width of an Ultrawide monitor. It seems better value, in my opinion; however, I understand people's tastes and values are unique.

Hi owners of this LG: can you do the 72hz refresh over Thunderbolt, or does it only play nice with a USB-C to DisplayPort cable?

I canceled my order of the LG 40WP95C-W after I found out that it lacks a kvm switch. I need to be able to switch between my work and home computer, so I think the Dell U4021QW would be a better option for me. I know it’s only 60Hz, but 60Hz vs 72Hz is not that big of a difference, is it?

It is a noticeable difference, but not worth it if you need a KVM switch.

Bummer. All I need to be able to do is share a wired usb keyboard and mouse between two computers. My work computer would connect to the screens tb4 port and my home computer to dp. I also need ethernet, but I can use a usb dongle connected to the screen for that (and my home computer could perhaps use wifi if it can’t be shared). Any simple and non-expensive way to make such a setup work with the LG?

This is my setup. The thunderbolt port has a Caldigit ts4 which takes care of usb hard drives, ethernet and the MacBook Pro itself. on DP (via DP to USB cable) I have my intel NUC and on the hdmi I have an Apple TV. I have a Logitech MX Master 3s which lets me switch between three devices and a Keychron Q1 Pro which also lets me switch between 3 bluetooth devices. there's really no need for a KVM except for a little extra convenience. That being said, the extra 12Hz you'd get from this monitor is minor as well. me personally I would tell you to get the Dell because the extra Hz might be a little pleasing to the eye but serves no real purpose. At least the KVM has function

Thanks. There are better deals on the LG, so I have to think if the kvm switch is really worth the extra money.

Quick question, can the tb4 output port be used for connecting peripherals such as keyboards and mice or is it only for daisy chaining monitors?

Does anyone know what is the maximum HiDiPi resolution for the 40WP95C-W on the normal (non Pro, non Max) macs, like the Macbook Air M1/M2 ?

Yes, I had my mouse and keyboard plugged in to the monitor before and it will connect to the computer through the TB4 port with the display signal at the same time

We've got a couple of these in the office and they won't reliably wake after the Macs have gone to sleep. One is a Mac Studio and the other is an M2 MBP. Half the time they work fine, but other times you have to power cycle the monitor. Both are connected over Thunderbolt.

Any ideas?

Some LG monitors have deep sleep options buried in their menus. Perhaps see if you can find those and turn them off. I have a couple LG monitors (different than yours) attached to my WFH PC, and I had to turn off Deep Sleep mode under General settings otherwise my PC would think the monitors were disconnected whenever they went to sleep.

Thanks, will have a look at that setting first.

I was also wondering if HDMI might be more reliable at waking, but hopefully the "deep sleep" thing sorts it.

I think that's fixed the wake from sleep issue, thanks very much!

I bought the updated version 40WP95XP-W and I have a slight issue with this. I have a keyboard connected to the TB4 port. However, if I connect a mouse to one of the usb ports on the keyboard, I get a "USB Accessories Disabled: Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices." notification. The keyboard and mouse both work, and a workaround to get rid of the notification is to use one of the usb ports on the monitor for the mouse, but then there's no port for my external usb, since the other one is already taken by an usb ethernet adapter. So now I'm thinking I may have to buy an external usb hub, but is there one that can get enough power from TB4, so I don't have to use an external power supply?
