I read that article and could've swore it said Amazon's top price was $400. Guess I'll go check again.

Edit: Yup...$415 in the article....but I haven't gone to Amazon to check myself.

It's floating, but I was quoting the article that was popular recently that I assumed he was referring to.

Does this seem to be a little late to anyone else?

Remember, the "Announcement" is 9-12-12. :apple:

Like han solo said, "I have a bad feeling about this."

LG-light gate, the company that will make ur screen BLLLEEEEDDD...
scarier than any classic horror movies.

Your iPad Retina/MBP is not a Samsung. A 3 Billion Dollar investment and 24 months can go a long way ;)

The term dissapointed is really subjective though. Especially considering I've seen and used extensively the competitors products, and have not really been blown away. But in the end it's all in what suits you best, and personal preference really.

Very true :)

Honestly it will be terrible if they only use LG for the displays. The Samsung displays are so much more vivid and not washed out like the crappy LG ones. Besides, I thought the Samsung parts supplier was a different branch then Samsung Mobile so the lawsuit would not affect this. The processor will still be made by Samsung if I'm not mistaken.

So glad Apple is slowly moving away from Samsung. Other companies like Sony, LG and Sharp are playing much nicer with Apple. Hope Samsung, one day, learns the lesson.

Every time a single component isn't made by Samsung, someone posts a statement like yours. Every time it's absolutely meaningless, because you're reading way too far into something that remains a rumor. Beyond that Samsung parts always seem to be some of the most desirable. They make reliable SSDs. They have a lot of experience manufacturing display panels. Their chip fabrications are quite good. I just view these posts as nonsense.

Hopefully Apple learns the lesson. Kudos to Samsung for not rolling over and playing dead.

I always enjoy your comments:D.

Samsung doesn't make iPhone displays.

am i the only one that doesn't seem the least bit interested in this new display technology.

I have to agree with the other poster, Samsung displays, although lacking in resolution, colors are more vibrant and I feel have better color reproduction than the current "retina" displays

Actually, they have worse color reproduction than retina displays. That "vibrance" you describe is over-saturation.

I love this. STICK IT to those Shamsung crooks. This will hit them where it hurts. Props to Tim Cook for showing a sack of cajones akin to Mr. Jobs'.

Why would he show them a sack of drawers? Maybe you mean cojones?

Yep, apple is really sticking it to them........and I am sure samsung is loving it. A 60% increase this year really sounds like they are moving away from samsung.

Apple’s reliance on Samsung chips for its best-selling phones and tablets will be worth as much as $7.5 billion to Samsung this year, a 60 percent jump from 2011, according to estimates from Gartner Inc., an industry researcher based in Stamford, Connecticut.

Apple accounts for about 9 percent of Samsung’s revenue, making it the company’s largest customer, according to a Bloomberg supply-chain analysis.

They are indeed nonsense because it shows that people do not pay attention to the facts at all. It's a pretty well known fact that LG has been the biggest supplier of iPhone displays for years now whereas Samsung is quitting the market for small size mobile LCD displays.

But because "Apple sues Samsung but Samsung supplies all the components" is the main arching story in the media and our conscious nowadays, they ignore the fact and assume that LG is a new choice over Samsung even though that's completely false. Samsung Display was never a candidate to be a major supplier of the new iPhone displays because their business is moving away from LCDs for phones.

Thanks, I was unaware of Samsung's move away from making phone displays. I get tired of the media narratives posted on here at times. It was the same thing with NVidia last year. People claimed Apple was ridding itself of NVidia due to the 2007-2008 issue. This year the macbook pros debuted with NVidia gpus. The imac could still differ. Eventually it will be something else:p.

Ehhhh, I'll pass.

Its the 4S 3

I'm looking to Android and Windows Phone 8 now

First of all all iPods and iPhones have been "Retina" for the last 2 generations.

Second, "Retina" is a made up term by by Apple. It means Jack.

But you GOTTA admin the term "Retina" is so catchy that it sticks in the minds of users, so easily (Jedi Mind Trick via Apple). lol. What is really means the quality of the output on a mobile phones' display is bliss. THAT is what users are after, and Android devices are catching up quite well - beyond just the pixel count.

To be honest I think the last attempt I'll ever give Android on a smartphone is with the Sony Xperia S/SL/Ion ... yes Ion has its touch button issues but their adjusted UI is just well so clean and un-cluttered even on ICS vs JB on Galaxy Nexus by Google.

I'm SERIOUSLY looking forward to seeing how well Project Glass works and is accepted; along with new laws restricting personal-HUD-devices while driving as it could be a visual and mental distraction. Project Glass reminds me SOOO much of Maximillians' optical-reticle (aka the precursor to the AH-14 Apache's reticle for pilots by 4yrs) from Robotech Masters war. bleh i think I'm getting seriously old.

Anyone else sell or gazelle their 4/4S yet?

I actually am sending my 4s out on Monday. I locked in my bid before they announced the October 1 extention but I'm getting 314 for it. I still have my iphone4 locked in for October 1st for 175. Both to put towards a new 32gig that I need to pay full price for. But in the end I'm only paying what a person would pay if they had been able to upgrade so thats good. But I'm still kind of deciding if I should just keep the 4 to use as a back up bc in this case if I didn't have my iphone4 to use I wouldent be able to sell my 4s. The same could happen next time.
