not read the article, but can i get it 32", why can i not buy any "good" small TVs 😢
32" Samsung Q50 is 4k and 32". It's about $460 - 500 though because that's not a high-demand size and resolution so Samsung doesn't make many. Other than that, there are not many options.

I just recently had to replace a 32" that died. Smallest 4k for a sensible price I could find was 43". Fortunately it fits the space vertically (this was the primary constraint) and just overhangs the edge more which we can live with. But I agree: can we have some smaller 4K quality TVs please!
A small 4K TV defeats the purpose of 4K, I think it better to opt for an HDR HD TV instead if that exists.

I have an LG C8 OLED. It’s awesome.

However, AFAIK, all these LG LCDs are IPS. Not recommended for most users.

HDR HD TVs effectively don’t exist.

Small 4K TVs are popular for desktop PC gamers. 1080p HD is far too low a resolution for this type of usage. In fact, LG this year introduced a smaller 4K HDR OLED specifically for this usage.

I have an unusual reason. We have ethernet everywhere and I have my cable box in the garage in my network rack. In there is a 8x8 HDMI<->Ethernet matrix. So I can watch cable anywhere off that one box (and on multiple TVs at once). The cable box can only output one resolution so I need to choose between 1080p and 4k. As long as I have 1080p TVs I cannot choose 4k. So every TV I buy now is 4k so I can get the benefit on the larger screens

Smaller is better ?
Should I wait for picocell?
No. I hear attocell is coming right after picocell, and nobody wants a big bloated cells.

I had a similar problem, and in researching it I found that there are boxes that can downscale, that you can stick between the source and the TV. Sadly i can;t remember where i found them (I ended up solving my problem by replacing my receiver - the new one let me output different resolutions to two zones).

They replaced my oled panel out of warranty that being said, my replacement panel is now starting to show deterioration on year 2, so I’m not sure if I no longer trust LG or Oled tech in general. This is what I get for leaving my trusted Sony Lcos projector for a crappy tv.
I've had a B6 panel for a few years now and good as new with heavy use.

Also wish there were better sub 40" options. Went with a 43" Sony 4k as secondary TV - at least the bezels are small these days.

Sure, I could get downscaling endpoints for the system I use. But they cost as much as a TV! This is the receiver for HDAnywhere: https://hdanywhere.com/products/accessories/pages/mhubsrx £350. The 43" 4k TV I bought only cost 299! And I'm not 100% sure the new receiver is compatible with the matrix I have. So I just replace old TVs with 4k as they break/get really old. Eventually I'll have them all done (down to 1 1080p set connected right now)

I bought a Sony that had the Apple TV app, and never use it. It seems easier to use the actual Apple TV that I have. Airplay works on it better too. (Well, and I don't know if this TV supports Airplay) But this is probably just me, but I imagine that a lot of people that have Apple TV's won't be using the add-ons now built-in, but I suppose those that son't will use it. *shrug* I hopw it works well...

If a TV supports the Apple TV app, will it inherently also support Airplay?

Pretty much all LG 4K TVs have a Plex app. I see no reason why these would be different:

Nothing on Sony TV's? Figures...

A small 4K TV defeats the purpose of 4K...

Not if you’re looking at it up close. I have mine on an extended reach monitor arm hanging over my bed. 32” is perfect size. 😊

I keep hearing about this but can’t ever seem to find it. Any chance you know of a link to the actual purchase-able product (as opposed to a vaporware news announcement)?

I’m a bit of a snob with my displays... dont get me wrong 90% of the time it looks great, but the panel is definitely degrading at a faster rate than LG stated... a lot more image retention and pixels that get stuck, it’s a c7 panel so basically same as yours. I wont even have my apple tv background up that long and ill see the icons remain in the image for a few seconds. This new panel has never been on anything over medium energy savings. The first panel i ran bright and it went to hell in 16 months. Looking forward to microled.

LG NanoCell TVs deliver stunning color reproduction by using a layer of one-nanometer sized particles that filter out impurities resulting in natural, lifelike color, which remain more accurate, even at wide viewing angles.
It takes nearly 1.21 Jigawatts to power it. I hope you all have solar or some sort of fusion reactor on your homes.

If this can download the Plex app, then I’m buying a 65” ASAP. Anybody know if LG TVs can download Plex?
Yes they can, I bought a 65 LG * Series Nanocell TV a year and a half ago, and can't say enough about the picture quality. 4K is amazing, you won't get perfect blacks like the OLED models, but you're only paying half of what an OLED costs.

Look at ratings from CNET and Consumer Reports.

How is LG when it comes to data collection of its smart TVs? Can you disable the smarts (mic, watching habbits, data collection, etc), but keep the HomeKit/Airplay integration?
This is why I still to this day don’t have a smart tv. I am perfectly fine hooking up my ATV to the back of it. The CPU chips in these smart tv’s are so underpowered it’s laughable. Combine that with data mining though Amazon or Google, and it’s a definite no-go for me.
