Java + inefficient software.
My 1998 laptop felt fast back in the day cause it was also running 1998-2003 software. Heck, even the JVM and Adobe Flash were faster by themselves back then.
Also, it’s webos. It’s the os that’s be abandoned by several companies. Palm, hp, lg, even open source.

I have a CX as well as a C8 and I can turn the TV on with HomeKit and Siri and I do this teach morning with my good morning scene
The one I got was a CX 2020 55 inch and it was the official statement from LG. Go figure maybe you got lucky.
I can only relay what I have been told and experienced.
Macrumors should investigate what is going on instead of just relaying what LG is falsely claiming.

I recently used HomeBridge to bring my LG OLED B8 into HomeKit and I'm super happy with the functionality. I can turn on/off, control volume through ARC to my Sonos Arc, and can switch inputs and tie it into scenes. Might be an option for those that cannot wait for official support. Took about 5 minutes to setup and configure

I have a CX65 and the HomeKit functionality is pretty buggy. A lot of “No Response” in the Home app while the TV is off. A recent TV update may have fixed it since it’s worked for the past few days, but it’s still too soon to tell.

Mine is a 2019 LGOLED55E9, it switches on and off amongst more features, like switching HDMI ports, switching to Menu.
So, in my case, it works.

No offense...to you, Homebridge is easy if you're smart enough/interested/IT educated, for noobs it's a completely different story.

Make sure you have "Mobile TV On" enabled on your device. Power on functionality won't work without it.

The length of time it takes to do a task says nothing about the difficulty of the task itself or the knowledge required to do it.

Meanwhile my Samsung 4K tv, over three years old, can’t even install apps. Every single one ends with an error and no one has a fix. I still get firmware updates though.

I have the exact same issue on my 2018 Samsung 4K TV

Still waiting for my 49UK7550Pla...

any ideas why for this model is not available yet?

I got an LG OLED with the Homekit implementation from LG and I can disclose that officially from LG support that their implmentation does not allow to switch on the TV from Siri or any Homekit command.
They have a major bug for all their TV which once off, just power off the Wifi or Ethernet connection which kills any chance of connecting to it, so once it is off, it is unreachable from an homekit/Siri perspective.
So do not even say they will support Homekit as they won't ever and when I ask when this bug will be fixed, their answer was clear: never.
I just returned the LG TV and went for Sony which has a great Homekit implementation
That might be your experience, but it is not mine. I can both turn off and then turn back on my 2020 LG50UN8100PLB using Siri. You might have a faulty unit or a setting is out of place.

Here on my 55B8 OLED working great, but no volume controls at all. Waiting for it to be released on my 43UK UHD LED though

I have a 2017 LG OLED C7. HomeKit support would be nice although I find having to manipulate the volume and change channel or input not all that difficult to do with the included remote. Call me old fashioned but I really can’t see all that much life changing experience to be gained from having HomeKit on any TV. YMMV.

The AppleTV+ app, on the other hand, would be a great addition and I can’t see why LG/Apple can’t add this to LG sets going right back to 2016 or even earlier. My set happily supports 4K HDR Dolby Vision from Netflix and is super responsive so why can’t Apple/LG support it?

And PLEASE no comments saying “buy this set top box or this streaming stick bla bla bla”. All the streaming services I want are built in to the LG’s firmware. WebOS is a fantastic way to use a TV. I don’t want to buy another STB just for AppleTV+ until a few years down the line when lack of support for other LG apps makes buying a STB for my set a sensible move to prolong the life of the telly.

My 2018 LG e8 oled got the airplay2 and HomeKit updates.

Software Version: 05.30.02

Got the remote control via iPhone option.

Works great for audio and video streaming, but no HDR video support when AirPlay HDR video taken by iPhone 12pro mac
Interesting. My E8 is still on 5.20.02, and when I check for updates, it says I'm up to date. Hmmm... will wait a week.

I knew buying a C7 at a SMOKIN' price was going to haunt me... ah well, with an ATV connected to it, and 4K running for most things there it's basically the same, if not better.
