Ah perfect. Very simple. Download the firmware from the LG site. Put on a usb and stick in your tv. Done. Lovely.

i´ve followed the setps. Create the folder with the name and extract the file to that folder.
But cant start the update.
Tried every usb ports.

The usb should be fat ou nfts?

I formatted mine to NTFS, created a folder called LG_DTV, unzipped the downloaded zip file and copied over. When I plugged into the tv and turned it on, it straight away asked me if I wanted to upgrade.

Updated mine using the German update on my UK 55sk8500pla. Install was easy... however it‘s not the best airplay experience.... slow and crashes out.... will keep testing it... how is it for others??

I’ve not used it much yet but the bit I did, it worked great. My TV is using an Ethernet cable which must be helping.

Also my TV is connected using an ethernet cable and I agree that could be helpful for recognizing the update file

I recently used HomeBridge to bring my LG OLED B8 into HomeKit and I'm super happy with the functionality. I can turn on/off, control volume through ARC to my Sonos Arc, and can switch inputs and tie it into scenes. Might be an option for those that cannot wait for official support. Took about 5 minutes to setup and configure
I tried to set it up but I could not get my LG to appear in Home. After you install the plugin, how do you actually get the device to appear in Homekit? (I'm using HOOBS)

East Coast of Canada here, Format USB 3.0 drive to NTFS downloaded the LG 2020 update file .zip. Created the LG_DTV folder on the USB drive and extracted the file to the Folder. Plugged the USB into USB #2 and the TV when straight into the update. The TV restarted after the upgrade. I had to agree to the new user agreements and the TV restarted again. After this I went to the "NEW" AirPlay tab on the Home screen and set up AirPlay and HomeKit and can confirm everything went very smoothly with AirPlay and HomeKit working perfectly. I can not control volume through SIRI however, can change Input and Turn on and off TV.... My TV is the 2018 OLED55B8PUA.

Did you initialized the USB memory device in MS-DOS (FAT32)?
What do you mean by initialized?
I formatted both as FAT32 and as NTFS and it my tv does not str-art the update on any of the 3 USB ports

I get this image all the time whatever I try

Yes I was meaning formatted, sorry. For me it worked.
Have you tried with another USB memory device?

I tried a
USB2.0 4GB usb stick
USB3.0 8GB usb stick
External SSD 250GB

And all tried NTFS and FAT32
None of them worked on any of the 3 USB ports on my tv
I don't get it...

Question to those, who did the update with the USB-stick and didn't succeed: did your TV say, that you have the wrong firmware?

Background: I have an OLED55B87LC and on the support page of LG isn't any firmware version for this TV (but I did get frequently updates). I would like to try the firmware of this post because I have an Austrian model (not Australian haha) and think they could be compatible. But I don't want to brick the TV.

As far as i know and tried if the software does not match with your tv, nothing happens. The file is not read by tv. I tried with my 55uk7550pla but could not update it :(

Has the interface changed with the update? I notice that the 2020 models have smaller icons on the main screen but I suspect LG just updates the existing version of WebOS supplied with the TV rather than upgrading users to the latest version of WebOS.
