Hi!

Using this monitor with the 15" late-2013 Retina Macbook Pro through the Thunderbolt 2 cable only, do I have access to the USB ports? Or will I have to connect another cable to use the USB hub?

Thank you.

Yes it works as a usb hub with only the thunderbolt cable connected.

Why don't you try plugging something into the USB ports to check. :)

Unfortunately, it's impossible since I don't have the monitor yet. And there's no way to see it in person, so it's not a possibility.

Thank you so so much. Now I just have to find a way to purchase this monitor, since I'm having a really hard time finding it on sale.

Thanks again, it really helped ^^

Edit: May I ask you if the USB 3.0 in the back of the monitor will be able to power this USB 3.0 hub?
I ask that because I already purchased this hub and 1 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 ports won't be enough for me. If it doesn't work, I can get a Thunderbolt 2 to USB 3.0 adapter, dock, or whatever, right?

Thank you so much again.

Got this monitor today. I just love it! Looks great, very nice image quality.

I connected my Hackintosh with DisplayPort, and my iMac through Thunderbolt to the display. I have the mouse/keyboard connected to the screen, and the "USB IN" connected to the Hackintosh. That way I control the hackintosh when viewing the DP input, and when I switch to Thunderbolt, the mouse and keyboard follow and gets connected to the iMac. Brilliantly simple and effective to work with.

After trying some movies, gaming and such I really don't have any complaints at all. If I have to think of something, it's that I have my desk in the middle of the room, and even though the backside of the monitor looks good, it doesn't with a heap of cables connected, looks quite messy. Although 99% of people will probably have it against a wall, so that's no issue for most people. Also, it's very cramped with both this monitor and an iMac on my desk, I will definitely have to get a new desk or move some furniture around soon :)

Where did you get yours?

I live in Sweden, so ordered from a known local reseller. I checked the availability first, and it seems quite a few resellers have them in stock ready for shipping nowdays, at least here in Sweden.

Ah ok. Still hard to find in the US.

I use this monitor on that exact laptop. I am going to be getting a TB cable this week, so I will test this exact thing and let you know. thanks.

I'm using this monitor right now with the mouse/keyboard connected to the screen, and only a TB cable to my Mac. Works great! So no, you don't need a separate USB cable for the screen usb hub if you're using thunderbolt.

Can I use this monitor with Macbook Air mid 2013?

There is a thread on hardforum which has a user who said this and is an owner of a 34UM95 and a 13" mid-2012 MBA:

"To answer my own question earlier in this thread conclusively - my 13" mid-2012 Macbook Air happily drives it at 3440x1440 (50Hz) as well as it's own screen."

Another user on this website says this @ https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1770105/

"Just got my new LG 34UM95 from Amazon yesterday and wanted to confirm that it runs beautifully with my 2013 Macbook Air. Had some concerns that it wouldn't push the full 3440x1440 @ 60Hz, but it's working perfect over Displayport."

Excellent. Thank you for your help, now I can order one and finally get rid of my semi-working aple thunderbolt display :)

so, loving this monitor, but I did just notice a buzzing developing in the speakers. I have reached out to LG. Will see what they have to say.

I notice this monitor is advertised as Mac Compatible. There are three specific features I'm wondering about, and I'm hoping one of you who have this monitor on a Mac can answer.

1. Is the LG calibration software that uses the internal hardware LUT available for OS X?

2. Does the split screen feature work in OS X? I'm talking about the feature that uses drivers to make the OS think there are two physical screens. I would love to have 75% of the width to be "one monitor" and the remainder to be the "second monitor".

3A. Is there a video file player that will play 21:9 content at 21:9 fullscreen (VLC, quicktime, etc)?

3B. Is there a blu-ray player that will play 21:9 content at 21:9 fullscreen?
