I wonder where they got their inspiration?

They even used the same advertising.

Edit: My bad, they put it a bit closer and inverted it. Nothing like it 😂
What's really amazing is that LG managed to copy Apple's exact design, but in a way that actually allows for the consumer to choose between using the HAS or VESA mounting their monitor without having to buy a separate accessory or specify which option they want at the time of purchase.

probably in the range of $ 3 k including tax - including Thunderbolt 5 without any competition - in case I opted for an iMac I'd certainly buy it at any price

Well - industrial design is probably the best word for it - looks amazing on the small images - had the 5k display from LG for testing at home and it was really bad quality control and it did not work properly on my Mac PRO - thus not an option - I hope they got it right this time!

The design looks awesome and I would buy this beast in a heartbeat in case it worked with the Mac mini fine - but then there is the hope for an 8 k iMac Pro to replace my current iMac PRO and the M5 end of this year will be probably the time to consider which route to go.
Good for all that are in need of a display currently.
Interestingly the LG 5K Display works nice for me (Currently attached to a Mac mini M1 but also works well on my MacBook Pro) - just design-wise and considering the build-quality it is not playing in Apples League

Historical low prices of 32" 6K

- $1,850: Dell at BHPhoto
- $4,500: Apple at BHPhoto

For a $1,799 iMac 32" 6K M4 16GB RAM 256GB SSD base model to happen the display parts needs to cost ~$1k.

With Thunderbolt 5 I expect this display to be $3-5k. It will likely be co-launched with 2025 Mac Studio & Mac Pro by WWDC in June.
impressive price for the Dell - if it weren't that ugly ...

Clip it on the top anyway, let it hide a bit of the menu bar and just pretend you're using a MacBook Pro or iPhone with the incredible, magical "notch" feature! :) /s.
He can also probably use the magnetic Logitech Webcam designed for the ProDisplay XDR - I have it and it looks acceptable

I have the LG 5K (two of them in fact) and the idea of LG not driving the price up unnecessarily with their terrible quality webcams is music to my ears.

If it's 60hz it's a bust and underutilizing TB5.

If it's >60hz.. well then it'd be something really refreshing to the markets.
As expected, it’s 60 Hz according to other reports… which is fine by me and fine by most of the intended target market. The main concern will be the price, not the refresh rate.

As for TB5, it’s for hub functionality not display bandwidth. Hopefully they won’t use TB5 as an excuse to price it high though.

It looks awesome, but if it doesn't have webcam, speakers and microphones, means you will be running a bunch wires around making the desk look as average as with any other display. I hope it was 38 inches atleast

It looks awesome, AND if it doesn't have webcam, speakers and microphones, means not paying extra for features I don't need and will ne ver use

I just want a 5 or 6k replacement for my 4k 32" lg with nice nice color that doesn't cost a fortune

no bezels is a great bonus

if it has standard vesa mount and is a fair price this is an instant buy for me

LG has shown off a new Ultrafine 6K monitor at CES 2025. The 32-inch display is the first of its kind to support Thunderbolt 5, which Apple introduced late last year with the launch of new Mac mini and MacBook Pro models powered by M4 Pro chips.
...
Whether this is a direct competitor to Apple's XDR Display will be dictated by the price, which LG has not revealed, although the use of an IPS Black panel could make it more affordable than Apple's XDR display. For reference, Dell's UltraSharp 32-inch 6K monitor, which also uses an IPS Black panel, starts from $2,479.99, while Apple's Pro Display XDR starts from $4,999...

Can someone illuminate why LG's use of an "IPS Black" panel could make it more affordable versus the Apple's XDR Display? It was my understanding that Apple's XDR Display is also an IPS LCD and what drives the price on the XDR is Apple's sophisticated combination of lens, backlight, local dimming, algorithms, etc that gives it better quality than almost other monitors on the market. Is there any indication that LG will be competing at that level? Otherwise it doesn't seem like IPS Black is what will make this LG cheaper but rather forgoing the XDR's level of color accuracy and calibration precision.

No doubt a lot of LG and Samsung displays are inspired by the XDR display.

But they've also improved and added some new features (not that difficult given the XDR hasn't been updated since inception in 2019).

Competition is good.

Finally! I’ve been waiting for this, probably my next primary monitor, replacing my 32” UHD LG

The best thing about integrated accessories on the ASD is that, when you go to dual-screen you get:
- 2 5K displays
- 2 web cams
- 6 microphones!
- 12 speakers!!

Seems a bit overengineered to me...

depends how you use your machine. I've never once used the camera on my studio display.

From the photo, I'm not too confident with this tiny stand. Would love to see a VESA mount adapter on the back and some bezels around.
