It's a ****** monitor. Low refresh rate and only 4k. Instead of paying 4000$ I pay a thousand more and buy the 6k apple display. Won't do it cause it also sucks with only 60hz..

They call it ultrafine and its not 5K. I don't get this.

Product that could have been enticing just became an exercise.

Yeah... a 6k Apple XDR and a couple of bricks to stand it on sounds like a bargain... (no, not really...)

Or get a 48" LG OLED TV for a couple of grand less - bit big but, hey, even my eyes could probably cope with 4k native res at that size... and the only real justification I can see for OLED at that price would be for creating HDR 4k video for TV...

For that money it easily could have been 120hz at least, despite its small size. Guess they have to save something for the next model.

Of course this isn't a gaming monitor but if it had VRR, 120Hz, and HDMI 2.1 it would be great.

Or I can buy a 48" LG C1 for less than 40% the cost of this. Supposedly LG is bringing out a 42" C1 which would be very usable as a monitor.

Really like LG's stuff, but the half moon stands are not my fav. Wish they would move on.
I think their stands are the worst. The have a large footprint. They are do not swivel. I would take a dell monitor stand over LGs anyday. But LG usually has the better monitors themselves.

Great, it can sit next to my two year old LG OLED TV I paid $2500 for that has images burned in and LG could care less.

It would be really tempting at this price for 5K. I would buy one immediately for 6K. But 4K at 32” is kind of a low PPI. Still nice to see this thing existing.

I love OLED, but only 250 nits of brightness? Guess this is meant for true professionals who need an extremely accurate display working in a dark room?
They do that, though. For really intensive color work, people do try to tune out extraneous light. They even sell hoods for shielding your screen.

Why would you suggest a TV with an even lower PPI?

The whole point of a monitor is to have high PPI.

This is a joke? 32” OLED 4K display 250 nits for $3999
I suspect it's more expensive because of the color accuracy? Certainly not many regular consumers are going to drop $4K for a monitor, but pros will.

when the 48” LG CX 4K TV is $1299 (sale).
That's a TV. It's meant to be looked at from across a room. If you want to look at that same 4K of pixels up close on your desk, but spread out over way more space, knock yourself out -- but to my eyes that pixel density would look pretty rough compared to a smaller 4K screen.

LOL
Kinda like when the first con man met the first fool.
Religion was born.

or when apple made a crazy overpriced round computer that no 3rd party parts work with.

4 k for a monitor .... only for fools!

The price is a bit high given the features but still not as bad as even some low-end reference monitors. Another nice option for color sensitive work that doesn't need an $8000 display for accuracy.

My god man

just get a CX or C1 48” and go on vacation multiple times
48" is way too big for a monitor, especially at that PPI. I'd never want a display bigger than 36" for sure and I think 32" 6K is about perfection. I don't ever see a reason to need anything above 8K 36". unless it's more of a curved panoramic (I think curved TVs are dumb, but I think on displays, especially in light-controlled environments like my studio, it can be useful to prevent strain). I'll be upgrading for other reasons after that, such as expanded color spaces, increases in bit depth and HDR, faster refresh rate, and other future features such as holographic capabilities (I've actually got a tiny holographic display from Looking Glass on preorder right now, lol).

😧 Par-for-the-course features for $3K?!

LG's smoking the Apple Crack™! 🤣🤣🤣

The 250 nits spec is for SDR peak brightness. HDTVtest measured the peak output at over 550 nits in HDR:

The CX is a great OLED display and great for reference SDR colour grading, but it simply won't do for reference HDR grading. It's extremely unstable above 180 nits or so, and desaturated the closer you get to its peak brightness.
