Hope Apple releases their own 24" 4k, 27" 5K and (cheaper than the current) 32" 6K soon! Would go well with refreshed iMacs and Macbook Pros.
I'm not sensitive to that, but… yeah, it is good.I tried the Dell 4k 27’ was a nice panel, but was really missing the auto brightness feature and was still not the same color gamma (the white was totally different) as my macbook screen so returned it. I wanted to try LG Ultrafine to see if that is better, but its out of stock since mid december and also now its gone totally from apple Netherlands store. i hope that Apple is releasing its own displays again. Who owned/owning LG Ultrafine are auto brightness and color match alike the macbook pro screen? Of corse some difference can be as ppi is different but as color gamma is almost the same right?
It could also be that LG are about to release the 3rd generation of their ultrafine monitors for Mac. Even if Apple release a new Thunderbolt Monitor, it won't surprise me if it's price above LG's, so LG still has a place in the market (even if it's going to be a smaller market - unless they make them work better with Windows too).Yeah, Benq and Asus are producing some nice Thunderbolt monitors. Build quality seems better than the LG ones on Apple's site.
I'm a bit thrown by the 'in early development' phrase we're seeing in reports of Apple's alleged monitor plans though. Surely a lot of the design is going to be taken from the forthcoming iMac's build, which they've reportedly been working on for some time (and are rumoured to be launching in March).
From what I remember reading, LG just announced a 32" Ultrafine display. I don't recall any announcement to a successor to the 24" or 27" models.Didn't LG just showcase the next generation of Ultrafine displays, including a OLED version? Maybe these will replace the ones not listed in Apple Store anymore.
Stop being cheap just buy the XDR.
If Apple released anything in this space, the entire world would rejoice. If Apple release a replacement soon, there'd definitely be some disappointed people out there. You don’t want to be the person that bought the LG Monitor just before actual better-built Apple Monitors are released.
Just because something is expensive that doesn't mean that there's profit for everyone in it; same with everyone wanting to buy something, that just isn't a guarantee that they actually will pay enough to even cover the costs.Exactly. Apple has finally heard the resounding clatter of the 'ker-ching'.
Many would be thrilled. Many would scoff at the price or just hate on Apple, and some, who’ve just bought the LF ultrafine, would be gutted because they’ve missed out on what they may have preferred. If Apple released anything in this space, the entire world would rejoice.
You misunderstand - I'm saying Apple has seen the enormous gap in the market.Just because something is expensive that doesn't mean that there's profit for everyone in it; same with everyone wanting to buy something, that just isn't a guarantee that they actually will pay enough to even cover the costs.
Remember, Apple doesn't make these panels, they have to convince others to do that.
Maybe in a Bizarro world with a different definition of the word 'value'.If you are spending 1299 on a display like the LG...why not spring a few thousand more for the XDR you are getting way more value.
Do it once, do it right.
With student discount you can get the XDR for 4399...use the Apple Card and get 3% back. Net cost of XDR = ~4267Maybe in a Bizarro world with a different definition of the word 'value'.
Uh, what's your definition of value again? $4267 -something every "student" can affordWith student discount you can get the XDR for 4399...use the Apple Card and get 3% back. Net cost of XDR = ~4267
Quality>quantityUh, what's your definition of value again? $4267 -something every "student" can affordFor that money you can get 3 27" 5K Ultrafine - and almost have enough left to get a 4th 24" 4k Ultafine.
