Why do you keep feeding an obvious troll?

And on topic, neither the 4K nor the 5K is available in the Swedish Apple Store.
A local computer chain in my country is currently listing the 4K as being available within 3 to 10 days, so I ordered two of them. Let's see if they are really able to deliver those.

In general, I am still curious why both displays disappeared from the European stores. Apart from the fact that Apple's first party displays seem to be a long way from ready, even if it's "only" a refresh by LG, wouldn't they disappear in all stores?

My only guess would be that Apple pulled them because LG cannot give them a timeframe for delivery at the moment. I tried ordering a 5K one at an electronics retailer in autumn and they kept pushing back the delivery date week after week. Now, they're in April, but I think this still is only a placeholder. So maybe as soon as LG is able to get those displays to Europe, Apple will re-list them.

I just called Apple about the 5k LG display on their UK site. They didn't know if/when it would be back in stock - and didn't know what was causing the lack of stock.

That's strange, as German Apple Store representatives told me in December that the displays are scheduled to be back in stock in January.

That is strange. Or maybe they were back in stock in January, and sold out again?

I'm afraid not, I was checking their respective store pages at least daily in order to not miss buying one and I never saw them being in stock.

It's going to be interesting to see whether Apple announce anything during their upcoming Spring event or whether those LG displays start quietly reappearing in stores again.

Yep. An M1X Macbook and a new Apple display would suit me perfectly.

I got the 24" a few months ago to use with my 16" MBP and absolutely love it. Got a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 dock to go along with it. Love the set up!!!

I just bought a 4K 24" Ultrafine recently, it's still in stock in Canada. Just shy of $1000 Can. after taxes, yikes!

But few monitors can give a pixel density that comes close to a Macbook 'retina' screen, and that's what I wanted, mostly for writing: I can't stand pixellated text now that my old eyes have grown used to hi res.

If I had more patience and trust in buying over the U.S./Canada border, I might have considered this far cheaper but comparable 24" 4K LG alternative.

It doesn't have the fancy USB-C mac-specific capability, nor the precise colours, stand is not as good, but I believe the resolution is the same and at just under $300 U.S., this could fit the bill for many.

There is a Youtube video posted elsewhere in this forum showing precisely how to make one of these work well on a Mac, I'll find it if anyone wants to see.

That said, I am loving the Ultrafine 4k 24". I love how it charges and connects to the mac with a single thunderbolt connector and also provides what is basically like a USB-C/thunderbolt hub at the rear of the monitor. I love how the touchbar provides you with 2 sliders, one to adjust brightness on each of your two screens. Seamless Mac integration.

I just called Apple again, about the 5k LG screen, which has been out of stock here in the UK since the beginning of the year. They have 'no information on that'.

You may be able to find it elsewhere than Apple, for example on Amazon UK it sells for 1372 pounds. Not sure how that compares to what Apple was selling it for.

The 5k model has now completely disappeared from the UK site. And LG’s site says it’s discontinued. Wonder what they’re replacing it with?

Hopefully something but the almost complete lack of 5k displays means that I'm worried they are just going to let it die completely.

Everything seems to be 4K and thats what the average punter understands because thats the same as their TV. Pretty much every 4K monitor is 3840 x 2160 whereas the LG is 4096 x 2304px which makes a noticeable difference.

According to https://www.macrumors.com/2021/02/22/lg-ultrafine-5k-display-listing-gone-europe/
a soon-to-be-implemented regulation across the European Union and the UK is the cause of the display's disappearance from Apple's online store in those regions.

The linked MacG article (French) goes a little bit more into this, although the specific reason (while theorized) is still left unclear by Apple:
These two monitors, the UltraFine 4K and 5K, do not comply with regulations, neither detailed nor named, which will soon apply in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

This is the reason that was communicated internally for the disappearance of the sale of these two products. It is also because of this geographic specificity that these two monitors are still offered in the United States, for example.

Apple does not give more details on what will no longer be compliant with these screens. But starting March 1, the number of appliances products as well as televisions and computer monitors will be accompanied by a new energy label . This could explain it.

Perhaps these UltraFines were considered too energy intensive? For comparison, the 4K model shows a consumption of 1W in standby while a Pro Display XDR 6K oscillates between 0.36 and 0.46W in the same condition. It can also be the nature of some of its components, but difficult to know more in the absence of details.
