Dang guys I guess I am going to wait until these issues get fixed. Not about to spend $80 on a case that doesnt work. Yall keep us up to date on which model works flawlessly for a long time.

Anybody know if Best Buy will accept an opened Lifeproof for refund? I know they will exchange or do a gift card, but I wasn't sure about whether or not they will refund an openend phone accessory within 30 days with a receipt. I looked on their website under their return policy and didn't really see it addressed anywhere.

Yes, with a receipt no problems at all.

When I first put the gen 4 on I thought it was perfect but after using it a couple of days my mind has changed.
I purchased 3 different gen 4's and all of them had problems.

2 of them the plastic screen cover was still wavy and had quite a bit of oil slicks. The third one the screen cover was a little better but still not flat and was also pretty wavy. The vibration from the ear piece will rear it's ugly head sooner or later on the gen 4 as it did with the ones I tested.

All three have the problem while on speaker phone the first few seconds of the call was cutting in and out like you had a bad connection or something.

The rubber pieces that they added to the sides and top corners of the front cover easily peel off and after you remove the phone a couple of times they will be displaced and stuck to your phone.

The Fre case is one giant modge podge of thrown together parts.
I know everyone wants this case to work but it doesn't.

What was the number on the case?

Yeah and if you purchased between nov. 4 and now I believe you have till jan 24 to return.. It's a holiday return policy.

I've decided to take mine back as well. You shouldn't have to be doing modifications like peeling off pieces and putting powder to stop the screen from sticking on a $80 case. I wanted this thing to work or else I wouldn't have returned it so many times in hopes of getting a good one, but you have to know when to give up on something that isn't worth your time

What was the number on the case?

They were 283,000 - 274,000 -292,000 and all three were bad.
When I see one over 350,000 I'll give it another shot.

I'll keep the gen 3 for now and live with the crappy sound problems.

hopefully all these complaints get to Lifeproof management so they can fix a case that has absolutely no problems. You would think they would know how the consumer feels when they purchase one of their $80 cases and it has many problems, when we could switch to an otterbox for half the price with no problems at all except its bulky... I really like the lifeproof but will wait to purchase one when there is absolutely no flaws.

What are you guys talking about? I am on my second day with the version 4 and no problems at all. I am their biggest critic from my previous cases. You shouldn't be peeling anything off of these cases. Everything is on their for a reason.

Well I agree with having to try to find the right one, but after 9 cases I can say I have one that I will stick with. I have spoken to LP a few times and they are listening to the people because they are tweaking things to make it perfect. I'm sure they will have to come out with something solid to compete with http://www.seidio.com/obex/ and http://m.otterbox.com/armor-series/armor-series,default,pg.html

Can someone explain to me how if the iPhone 4/4S case was so great and has been getting such great reviews, why can't lifeproof just make the same case for the iPhone 5? How much difference can there be? Just a thinner phone with a taller screen...

The iPhone 4 case was not so great out of the starting block, but became excellent. I used one from the beginning. The iPhone 5 is NOT the same but the growing pains are the same. They will get it as right as anyone can. I have no doubt. I haven't replaced my case I got in the first batch of orders yet, but I will soon. Looks like they're getting the bugs out.

My version 4 is still going strong. Zero problems. Will report more as I use it more. If this is the final version, I would be happy with. It.

what I don't quite understand is when I first bought the case for the iPhone 4/4s it had the foam pad on the top front of the case that causes a lot of pillowing, my girlfriend bought the case for her 4s and it didn't have the foam pad just like the 4th generation of the fré case....so why on earth did lifeproof start the fré case with the foam pad on the front of the case knowing it didn't quite work on the older version? Also. As another poster mentioned why have the extra cutout on the front?

I have had the version for about 3 days on the second day I started to get the rainbow effect :/ so I went to best buy and got an invisible shield and put it on and no more rainbow :) loving this four generation so far

Whats this version 5 that I've been hearing about? I have version 4, but I saw a post on the Facebook page with someone who had a case with a crystal clear screen protector, none of this matte finish crap.

Not sure if I have a 4 or 5, but coming from a 2 this is a huge improvement! Glad I RMA'd. Top and bottom of screen have no more bubbling, screen is flush and a bit clearer, no more rainbowing yet, people can actually hear me on calls, and no more crazy buzzing when playing audio.

Can you post pictures of the inside of the case or at least describe what's different?

Wow, the interest in the Lifeproof has sure taken a dump.
Next time I'm near a Best Buy I'll take and see what numbers they have in now.

Just purchased one at Best Buy (357000+). Have to say am not having any issues. There is a very slight rainbowing effect that can only be seen when holding phone at an angle. Other than that seems to be working great. It has those little clear plastic pieces on the back.

even with all the bad, decided to go for it, as it is the only rugged(and waterpoof) case that is soo slim.
i wont ever trust it for submerging under water but since its completely covering the phone it will keep it clean.

got it for us$ 48.95 with shipping, from ebay.
there are lots of trusted sellers on ebay that are selling these for much lower than 80$
