Have a few major douchebags in this thread, I see. I have had Lifeproof cases since they came out. I am a fishing guide and spend about three days a week in salt water environments. I have been rained on, waded, soaked in heavy seas, and dropped my phone more times than I would like to admit. The Lifeproof case has never failed. Having looked at the other new cases, there is no comparison in terms of easy of carry and size. Would I have a Lifeproof if I wasn't on the water a lot? I probably would. Having said all that, I would not specifically take it in the water to shoot underwater pictures (i have other cameras to do that). Yes, the sound isn't perfect, but it's perfectly adequate. You can throw the word "crap" around all you want, depending on what you expect from a case, but as far as I'm concerned, the LP is anything except crap.
Fact is you don't buy a waterproof case because you just love the functionality of it, you buy it because your in harsh environments and you need it. It's nice to have the functionality and for the most part on all waterproof cases you do (except that crystal clear audio)

Easy, Wood
I agree with you that Lifeproof is crap. The case needs a whole new redesign.
The main problem that Lifeproof suffers from is having the sound transferred to the back panel. Piss poor design. Plus the oil slicks kill me. :)

Exactly. Every case is a trade-off. Don't expect any waterproof case to perform like there was no case present. Given the mass and problems with other cases, I'll stick to something I know will do what it's supposed to do, and if the sound isn't perfect on speakerphone, which I almost never use, I really could care less. A few Newton rings, that I can't see when the screen is lit? So what? If you don't need waterproofing, don't bother with a waterproof case. If you are an OCD iPhone owner, you will be driven insane by the 'deficiencies' of all these cases.

It seems like a lot of the complaints are from people who think a waterproof case is going to function like there is no case on at all. Plus I think most don't need the extras that come with the waterproof cases so they are more prone to complaining and saying "it's crap"

Exactly, if you don't absalutely need a waterproof/heavy duty case then don't buy one! Get your average case that lets u use everything but if you need waterproofing then buy the case but don't expect it to be perfect because you will never find a case that's perfect in every single way they all have their ups and downs
