The back of the case buzzing is a very, very serious problem with any instrumental music or higher pitches; most of my music sounds god awful terrible in the case (even though the bare phone's sound is beautiful). The volume has to be at 50% or below for this effect to become negligible even on songs with no serious bass or treble at all.

The only way to negate this, and even then you'll only get a couple more notches of volume rather than the full volume, is to remove the headphone port plug and open the dock flap, which of course means the phone is no longer waterproofed.

I haven't actually had any issues with call quality, it sounds perfectly fine on both ends, and the headphone adaptor isn't too much of a nuisance, however the proximity sensor is completely hamstrung by this case. It functions pretty much not at all, even a little bit. Obviously this is bad for extended phone calls where the screen being on can cause issues with buttons being hit or with the battery draining five times faster.

The built in screen protector doesn't even remotely sit flush for me, and while this doesn't hamper the responsiveness much (as I'm used to pressing harder due to Zagg films or other protective cases) it causes a lot of problems where the built in protector will stick to the Zagg and it'll really hinder the screen's look and use; especially after being on a call, it'll look like there's a fine layer of oil underneath the screen protector.

I have the one with the white foam strip in the back, so as far as I know it's the more recent version. As I'm not one to return or send out for replacement without trying to tolerate something, and as my only other good option is the very bulky Griffin Survivor (since I quit Otterbox cases after the terrible 4/4S one) and while I really like the Survivor, it's not waterproof or pocketable.

I really hope LifeProof fixes all the issues with their case, my friend, a comp-sci major like me, had a 4S LifeProof and it was on her recommendation that I get the one for the 5, but I'm thinking that if they don't fix anything within a couple weeks I'm going to have to return it and go back to the Griffin Survivor, which so far is the best case I've had.

Other cases I tried were the Rocketfish generic case; the worst case of all time, immediately returned and swapped for the Speck CandyShell, which was also total garbage, and I returned it a few weeks later and got the Griffin Survivor which lasted me a month so far and is, other than it being unpocketable, the best case I've had for an iPhone since the Otterbox Defender 3G.

Maybe if all these "American" companies were still manufacturing here in the USA, we'd see better cases when they come out, rather than the fifth revision a month and a half later being the final, quality product. $80 for a case should come with some patriotism included, don't ya think?

Do you still have a Zagg screen protector on? The LifeProof works much better if you take off any screen protectors you have.

I have no solution for the audio / vibration issue. For me it's a non-issue because I only listen to audio through headphones.

There is another thread on the forum that is filled with others (myself included) who are having the same issues. I have contacted Lifeproof twice by email and still have gotten no response. I have triad calling but the high call volume has made it impossible for me to get through. I'm going to try again this afternnon. This one is definitely going back, and with the severe lack of customer service, I'm probably going to be looking elsewhere for a case. Sorry Lifeproof...major fail!

Yea I don't blame you. I really liked their 4s case but the fre case is definitely still in beta. Maybe check back in a month and buy through best buy because you can return it on your time instead of waiting for lifeproofs backed up customer support.

Hang up issue FIXED!

Just to let everyone know, I just found a fix to the hang up problem. I too was having a problem with my iPhone not being able to hang up by just pressing the "END" button on the screen. I found that it seemed to be because of the proximity sensor. I opened my life proof case and I noticed that their is an extra piece of plastic that covers the proximity sensor area in the case. I removed it then put it back. I have NOT had any problems with the phone not being able to hang up now. :apple:

******Update********
I thought I had it fixed but I am still having issues. I will have to call LifeProof soon.

Rainbow spots on screen

No matter how many times I wipe the screen clean it still looks like I have moisture under between the phone screen and the case this causes the rainbow effect and it is driving me crazy and will be exchanging it tomorrow.

Sprinkle a tiny bit of baby powder on the inside of the case, wipe lightly until non visible. No rainbow effect.

My law enforcement friend obtained a Lifeproof case for his iPhone5. He jumped into a swimming pool forgetting he had his iPhone in his shorts...immediately got out of the pool only to pull out of his a pocket a dead iPhone. Water had completed leaked through the case.

Probably forgot to close something, like the charge door or headphone screw. Did he do the water test before installing the phone. I used one on my 4 for a year and a half. Never a leak despite many submersions.

Temp fix on vibration when on speaker

I use 3m double sides tape and put two pieces. Take the back cover off and on the opposite side where it says lifeproof, you should see a vertical raised line surrounded by little dots. Place a small piece on each side. And if it still vibrates, then you can do the same thing just above where you place the 3m tape. You will see another vertical raised line. This should last until Lifeproof can address the issue and send out replacements or if you are satisfied with the results like myself. Hope it helps.

Hi
I've had the case since it was first released. My back vibrates a lot but I've kind of got used to that! I've got the rainbow affect but gonna try the powder trick, thanks. But my big issue is when I'm on a call, I can hear a constant vibration. It's like the case is vibrating on the front like it does on the back, but not as bad. Does anybody have any clever fixes for this?

Return it for a newer, updated version of the case.

Update: I contacted customer service and they mailed me a new case. The back doesn't vibrate so it seems they fixed the problem

my back plastic window(apple logo) vibrates and buzzes when anything plays out of my speakers. is that normal?

Won't hang up

Has anyone gotten the issue about hanging up fixed? Mine also has this like huge bubble on the front making it hard to type. Anyone else?

Easy fix?

After several months of use, suddenly I was having the same problem of not being able to end a call when my iPhone 5 was in the LifeProof Case. Only easy fix was to put it on speaker and then end the call. That won't work if you activate the number pad because you can't get back to the screen with the speaker icon. Phone works fine out of the case.

Tried lots of things but the problem was intermittent. I noticed that the case was bulging a little at the top, right over the proximity sensor.

I put small pieces of double stick tape on either side of the speaker and it seems to have solved the problem. I'll follow up if it stops working.

No joy...

Well, that only worked a few times. Still having the no hang up, hang up.

I have the problem with the jack as well.. But also with the microphone. My family can barely understand me when I talk! It sounds like I'm talking through a can. Any tips?

Wow! I fixed my case. I hated this thing, it had the rainbow on the screen but I put a slip stopper on the back of my iPhone 5 and then put the case on and it's just tight enough to seal and press the phone closer to the screen than before. No rainbow and other screen is more responsive. I'm not going for the waterproof test but as in drop protection it will do. No rainbow at all and the screen protector is not as loose and bouncy as before

You shouldn't have to "fix" an $80 case...

True. I would e taken it back but I lost my receipt. Bought the Slip Stopper and forgot all about the Lifeproof until it struck me to try and see if it fit with the rear portion of the Slip Stopper on. It did and works real well for me. It's true it should just work.
