Lifeproof Case Update

I too had the original Lifeproof case for the Iphone 5. I was so disappointed with the call quality and the proximity sensor. I returned the case and just recently purchased the new case. It is much better, the sound quality is fine and there are no issues with the proximity sensor. The only thing that I am a little disappointed with is the screen cover. There are some rainbow marks on the screen. Does baby powder really work, or will that hurt the iPhone? Also, I am contemplating trying the slip stopper just didn't know if the case fits properly with it on.

Hi everyone, was able to, after some trial and error bootstrap a fix so I simply press next to the prox sensor while hanging up/ putting in numbers etc until lifeproof can send me a case that works flawlessly. Simply add packing to the back part of the case to the level of the existing foam inserts and twice that behind where the prox sensor will be pressed into the front of the case by building up padding on the back.

Just make sure you don't pack it too much or it won't deal!

Obviously I take no responsibility for this advice but it's working great for me! Hope this helps

My iPhone 4 case was excellent and saved my phone so many times , can't wait for lifeproof to get thier act together on this one

I'm amazed that people have to do stuff like this to their $80. Lifeproof case just to try and get the piece of crap to work somewhat.

I have my Atlas ordered and will see how it works when I receive it in 4-50 weeks. :(

My lifeproof case came about 3 days ago. The piece that screws into the earbud jack cracked a bit and I'm assuming a piece of it is stuck in the earbud hole because now my earbuds will not fit in and it will not play music through them. Will apple of lifeproof do something about that?

Same problems

My life proof case is doing the same thing. People can't hear me when I call them and the screen is harder to use and sometimes it doesn't work at all. Has anyone found a way to fix it besides sending it back for a new one? I don't really trust sending it back and actually getting one that works.

Beware……..Here's one for ya.

I purchased the “Lifeproof” case for my new Iphone 5s last summer. The reason I selected this case was for a couple reasons. First was the slim, sleek design that didn’t add a lot of bulk to the design of the phone. Second was the protection described by “Lifeproof”, that it is …………Waterproof: Fully submersible to 6.6 feet.
That may be true at first until pieces start falling off. The first and second times in the water, the device functioned perfectly and was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, on only the third or fourth time in the water, my phone took on water and my Iphone fried. Appearantly, the little rubber piece that seals the charging/cable connection door simply “FELL OFF” at some point allowing water to enter and destroy the phone.
I’m sorry, but that is ridiculous. Furthermore, your warranty doesn’t even cover the real damage which I find even more absurd. In addition to that, we had put in a claim, never received a response and had to make several calls to see what the status was. Finally, you sent me a “new little rubber piece”. But what about the $700 phone that I had to replace.
:mad:Again, I’m sorry, but if you want to call your product “Waterproof” then make it waterproof like “Otterbox”. Yes, a bit bulkier, but that survives rivers and lakes. I had one for several years without incident. “Lifeproof” didn’t survive a few months and a couple times in a swimming pool.
Yes, I am disappointed in this situation, and I feel that this product should not be advertized as “Waterproof” unless your warranty truly stands behind the product and guarantees the replacement of the device (yes, phone) in malfunction of your product. Pieces shouldn’t just fall off in a few months.

LifeProof 5S case

I am having a problem with the redesigned Fre for the 5S having a saggy screen. Its like the LifeProof screen is warped. I purchased my new LifeProof case from the company just 10 days ago. I know this is not the way a LifeProof case should fit because my LifeProof for my 4S fits perfectly.

I made a claim on their website a few minutes ago telling them exactly this info. I am waiting to hear from them.

For those of you who aren't aware, Lifeproof offers a warranty on your PHONE for an additional $10. It's good for 1 year from registration and there is a $50 charge for the claim should your Phone get water damage while in the Lifeproof Case.

Also, Otterbox PURCHASED LifeProof almost a year ago. According to the the LifeProof website, when you are purchasing a LifeProof Case, you are purchasing an Otterbox product, and you are dealing with the Otters when you need customer service.

In a statement by Otterbox published on May 23, 2013 by Executive Editor David Carnoy of CNET they state that the 250 employees of LifeProof are now "members of the OtterBox family and will remain in their San Diego location for the foreseeable future."

What you guys gotta understand is that these cases are injection molded (as are all of them) to _close_ but not, in all instances, exacting standards. As more and more cases are pulled from the steel molds, the molds, whose size tolerances might have originally been .015" may now have grown to .020" or .025". Get a case made from the latter part of an injection run and it fits your phone in a rather sloppy fashion. That's why makers of the LifeProof cases started sending them out with thin foam on the back.

Rather than use packing foam, if you live near a fishing supply store that specializes in fly fishing, there's a micro-thin foam marketed called, oddly enough "Micro Thin Foam" in 3" x 4.5" sheets by a company called Hareline Dubbin, Inc. Comes in 3 sheet packs and runs about $2. Using sections of this will remove any "play" between your case and the phone, especially the screen protector.

Sending he case back to LifeProof gets you one of 3 things: 1) a case from a different run that fits perfectly; 2) a case from a different run that fits the same or worse; 3) a case with their foam strips installed which may (or may not) fit exactly. The $2 foam fix-it-yorself is far superior and easier to do.

I bought and lifeproof case last month and the rubber part where the charging cable goes in is starting to peel away every time I open it to charge my phone. Is there anything I can do? I can't return it cause i cant find my receipt :/

Not really. Just be careful with it, and save a few dollars to buy from a different brand when this one breaks. There are thousands of cases out there, and you are not tied down to just one.
