Great tip (and find)! I only wish that it could be enabled by a triple-click on the home button, though.

Saban Abiiii
I wanted a jailbreak so bad just for f.lux, but you just made my day with this trick. Works perfectly on iOS8.1, thanks for sharing ;)

It can...He explained how in the OP

Oh God...Sorry about that. I'm just saw how to dim the screen at first, and then when trying to activate it again my phone got stuck on Zoom mode (zoomed in realllllly far) and I had to fix it. By then, I forgot about reading the rest of the directions that the OP posted, and I was half asleep. Again, sorry, I should have read the directions completely afterwards. With that out of the way, no it REALLY works great! Thanks!

F.lux though "sweetens" the colours for night view. This just dims the screen even further.

With my 1st gen ipad during night time reading I allways had brightness in the lowest setting. After I got the retina ipad (3rd gen) I found out I had to have the brightness 1-2 clicks over minimum to be able to comfortably read. So I have no use for even lower brightness.

Awesome tip -- thanks, OP!

Took me a few tries to figure out how to assign it to the triple click home button. I should have actually read your post carefully!

thank you, don't need to invert colours in a pitch dark room anymore.

This is an amazing find! This actually replicates the function of Dimmer rather then f.lux. Eye saver at night. One of the everyday tweaks I miss when I'm on a stock device. Thanks!

This is fantastic! My nighttime eyeballs thank you, OP.

I wonder how much this could potentially extend battery life - I notice that in it's dimmed 'zoom' state it's not only dimmer, but it also seems to limit iOS animations - dimmed there's no sliding transition on a double tap to show apps running concurrently, for instance.

Hoping to test the dimmed / non-animated state over the next couple of days. Thrilled with 6+ battery life, this might just make it even better!

I've been using this for a couple days now and really like it, thanks for the tip!

Fake! There are no pictures, therefore it is fake. Just jailbreak 8.1 and get f.lux!
