Haha. Apple must have caught their mistake. It's now deleted and doesn't say that it is included.

Oh I did. I'm not seeing it for some reason. /shrug
Either way, the adapter is probably not included. You bought a phone that uses the new connector, they're not going to pony up an adapter too I would guess. Not when the greedy bastards are charging $29 for them.

It originally said..

Your iPhone includes a Lightening to 30-pin Adapter for connecting 30-pin accessories to devices feauturing the Lightening connector.

Purchase this additional adapter to have a second adapter for your home or office.

Looks like they have since changed it though and I doubt they will honour it now.

They have changed the text when ordering now.

They better honour what they said originally.

"Ultra-compact" made me laugh.

I'm sure they wont honour it now.

The first sentence...

"Your iPhone includes a Lightning to 30-pin Adapter for connecting..."

Sure enough, they've changed it now.

Well I just spoke to a very nice man at Apple who said that, as I had sent him a copy of my screen shot of the original wording (where it IS included), if there isn't one in the box I should contact him again & he will ship one to me FOC when they come back into stock.

Fingers crossed - I thought it was too good to be true

I just spoke to a lady at Apple (UK) and she says it's an error and there won't be one included, and nothing more she can do. That came from her supervisor. I even sent her a screenshot. That's pretty disappointing to be honest.

I had the same, daylight robbery at £25 unfortunately :(

I even asked "jokingly" if her supervisor would agree to throw one in for free anyway. Sadly I did the joking part too well and she laughed.

I would have used it, but I don't actually have any accessories that need it, so I will probably just buy a lightning to USB cable as a spare. Is there a market on eBay for unwanted second-hand 30-pin to USB cables?

Please, he told you that to get you off the phone. Apple won't honor it.

You're probably right but I have his email address (which he emailed me from) & his name, so will follow it through if needs be...

I have a 4S car charger, certainly going to be cheaper to get a new charger than the adapter.

There is also a docking station in our kitchen but i'm sure with the adapter the phone or adapter would break as once docked the phone sits upright but angled back slightly, also the docking station and phone will be black so the adapter would look stupid.

Bit of a pain these nano-sims and adapter issues :(

Ah well, I emailed him & he confirmed that they won't honour it.

Not sure how that stands legally, as it was part of the original offer but, as it is all over the net now about their change of wording, hopefully they will do the honourable thing and provide everyone with one (as per the bumper for the iPhone 4).

I very much doubt it though.

Shame, this leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, Apple.

I guess I'll wait for the cheap eBay version to arrive in a couple of weeks (as I did for the SD/USB card adapter - £4.99 as opposed to £25 from Apple & it works just as well...)

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. They used to include all sorts of adapters. I can't imagine the text ended up on the website accidentally unless they were giving it to users in some instances but not others. The web designer couldn't have been that high at the time. :p

I'm amazed more people don't download the HTML from a page, modify it to say something like this, then take a screen shot & demand free stuff.

Wait, I know why they don't do that...because most retailers are smarter than that!

Hold out hope for your free stuff thanks to an error folks, just don't hold your breath.

This must be a situation of threads merging. Check out thatoneguy82's post. It does not say that hence my reason for not seeing it. No sentence like that exists on his/her screen shot so it was obviously easy to miss. ;)

Ah, so back to my thought that perhaps some people are getting it and some not? Why would the text exist on the website otherwise?

Wouldnt even have to do that...
