Dude, get a life. This whole site is full of first world problems. Do you really think that they are bitching about the new ATT Mobile Share plans in Uganda?
And your point is?

Why would this be a surprise to you, or anyone else? The first thing that I noticed about it is that my phone is crazy high in the dock and it looks like it is going to tip over the back. No bueno.
Oh, the humanity! The biggest problem with it though is that when I pull my phone out of the dock, the adapter comes right out with it. The only way to get it out of the dock cleanly is to hold the adapter with one hand and lift the phone out with the other hand. The first thing that I reach for in the morning is my phone, so this is going to be extremely inconvenient.
Why didn't you wait to buy your i5? People like you excoriate Apple for not publishing the connector specs earlier but completely ignore the fact you could have waited until there were i5 versions of your accessories or stayed with your i4/i4s.I will certainly buy a Lightning compatible iHome once they are released, but judging by all of the news, we'd be lucky to see one before Christmas!
Yes, i received it and No, I don't hate it.Anybody else get their adapter today and hate it?
Apple is going to do things their way as long as the iMarket exists. My point is the whole "first world problems" line is stupid on a forum about expensive, $1,000+ Apple products.
To all you people that replied with snarky responses to this thread, grow the hell up. You berated me for complaining about the adapter, yet I gave two solid suggestions that would have made it more functional for a lot of people out there.
You people need to wake up and realized that Apple dropped the ball on this big time.
- They did not publish the Lightning specifications until late September
- They will not allow anybody to make adapters without a pre-approved factory
- They have not approved a single third party Lightning factory for production
- They did not ship the Lightning to 30-pin adapter for almost 3 weeks after launch.
- They have still not shipped the Lightning to 30 pin cable 3 weeks later
Many of your guys' reading comprehension skills need to be refined. Nobody is complaining that there is a new connector. We are complaining that Apple released an adapter and is keeping a monopoly on the supply of accessories, at least for the time being.
Your attitude towards people that bring up differing views from you is deplorable. It's posts like the ones in this thread that prove that this forum is going in the toilet.
I agree. I have an ihome & antv 3. I'm actually thinking about selling the ihome.
Yeah, I used to think the same but try buying one when they release it.
As soon as they stock the shelves at Apple Store, they all sell immediately.
Why do they charge so much? Because the Apple drones (me included) will pay.
Roll over again Steve, it ain't getting better. The only good news coming out of Apple seems to be the mega-millions being paid to the brass. If it's any consolation, Apple isn't the first company to have the distinction of enriching those who contributed the least, or those who contributed and now are interested in only themselves.
Its my understanding that none of the Apple stores have gotten adapters yet. Have you heard differently?
Can we return them to an Apple store or do we have to mail them back?i bought one... didnt work as i expected![]()
I have the small 40 pin to 8 pin adapters which work for the phone, but not if you have a proprietary apple case on the phone. Then it won't fit. It has to be naked. Poor poor planning on apples part.
Well, wife and I got iPhone5s today, and like many here we have legacy 30 pin iHome docks in our bedroom that were used for 2.5 years with our iPhone4.
She has this model, http://www.ihomeaudio.com/iP11BV/

From what people have posted here, the 30 to 8 pin adapters do NOT work with these?
The don't charge the iPhone 5s?
The adapters will pull off the iHome, sticking to the bottom of your iPhone 5s upon un-docking , so not good...
Any real solution other have found is appreciated, as these do work fine, we'd rather not buy new ones.
30 pin, and actually if you look there is a version that works with most cases. Poor research on your part.
If your iHome uses Apple's Universal Dock standard, you can purchase these (http://flybridge.co/) to help secure the Lightning to 30-Pin adapter.
I've used these for my two iHome clocks and they work well with both iHomes as well as my legacy Apple Universal Docks.
The only caveat is that the Flybridge adapters don't play nice with cases or bumpers.
The 40 was a typo. The rest-not poor research. I've looked fairly extensively, and posted on several different forums-with zero positive feedback from anyone. The one person that attempted to be helpful on this site, posted a link to an adapter (which I purchased) that was in fact NOT compatible with the apple cases.
If you could maybe share your research (provide a link and (if possible) a picture of an adapter that works with the apple proprietary case, it would be appreciated.

The bold portion is the problem. There are lots and lots of adapters out there that work, but hard to find any that work with a case. That seems to be the bigger problem (at least for me).
Oh look I just found an adapter that works with a case!

No it's not cheap, but it is the best solution out there. I use it with this Image
Saw that (and own three). But that isn't what I (or I assume other people in this thread) were looking for. If we just wanted to run a cable from the 30 pin to the ipod/iphone/ipad, that is easy to find. I also have (several) of the micro usb to 9 pin connectors too.
What is missing in the equation, is a 30 pin to 9 pin adapter, that would simply connect on a dock, then allow the phone (in a case) to sit on the dock, just like it does currently with a 30 pin plug in.
For instance, my iphone 4s, in a case, sits just fine on my alarm clock dock. But because (every single one I have found) the adapter plugs just fine into the 30 pin port, but DOES NOT PLUG INTO AN IPHONE WITH A CASE ON IT (and allows it to sit upright on the dock/clock/whatever), due to the length of the 9 pin portion of the adapter (read: doesn't travel past the depth of the case AND plug into the iphone), it renders the dock, clock, or whatever, irrelevant and does not allow it to be used in the same way as a native 30 pin device.
Did I simplify it enough for you to understand?
I finally got my Lightning to 30-pin adapter in. I put it on my iHome alarm clock so I can finally charge my iPhone 5 on my nightstand.
The first thing that I noticed about it is that my phone is crazy high in the dock and it looks like it is going to tip over the back. No bueno.

You ever hear of this?

I have 2 black ones for my ihome alarm clock and it's pretty awesome. Only downside is that it won't even fit with the slimmest of cases on. Let me know if you want to see a pic of my set up.
