The lighting to 30pin adapter cable should work with a case since the 30pin connecter is on the other end of the cable. It is $10 more though...

Depends on the case.

I'm fairly certain it will work with the Incase Slider because it has a large cutout going all the way across the bottom.

Just check the case to see what kind of cutout it has.

That had not even crossed my mind. How much of an issue is it? Wonder if it will work with fairly thin-is cases?

It looks as it sits flush with the bottom of the phone. This will be bad for a lot of case choices.

I was hoping it wouldn't be the size of the one pictured on the store. It is huge. Why is it so long? Seems like it could be half the size. The weight of the iphone is going to bend those 30 pin connectors on docks with the 1" boost in the air the adapter gives it.

This is precisely why I got the 0.2m version with the cable.

If I tried to use the regular adapter in the iHome shown above, there would be a precarious tower of adapter + phone floating in the air. Just my cat coming along and bumping it might cause damage.

With the cable it'll sit next to the clock. Not as elegant looking but a lot more reliable!

Very frustrating about the case issue. Just received 2 this morning via FedEx, and immediately realized I would need to remove my case to use them.

When someone with an Otterbox Defender case receives their adapter, could you please post whether it fits? The opening is quite large on the case. Thanks!

Well, status changed on my order. I have both the standard adapter and the cable adapter coming. The cable adapter still just says "Available to ship: October" but the standard adapter now says:
"Available to ship: 5 - 7 business days
Delivers Oct 19 - Oct 23 via Standard Shipping"

Another week and a half, but at least I have date now. I place my order on September 24.
