I understand that it's illegal, but people on this forum tend to reply to people using installous as if their eating babies. Sure, its illegal for good reason (app developers lose money), but that has nothing to do with you (not you specifically people in general), and therefor you shouldn't care so much.

Well, if Macrumors becomes a pit of Installous discussion, it could cause trouble for the Macrumors staff.

I mean I kind of agree, I don't really want jailbreaking to be marked as a pirating tool, but I just don't understand why some people take it so personally (again, not talking about you specifically).

Because it's against the MR rules which you agreed to abide by when you registered. What's so hard to understand? There are plenty of other web site where app thieves and pirates congregate. Use them and obey the rules here.
 
VMware doesnt work for the exploit

I tried the exploit on a windows vm a number of times with 0 success then 1st try on a real windows box. Just an FYI....Yes I connected my usb to the windows vm.
 
Because MacRumours is Apple Central & the people that develop your apps come here too, of course it's going to be personal to some.
Plenty of other places for piracy - it's pretty cool MR isn't one of them. :)

HANGS on DFU screen. When i disconnect it, it says jailbreak was successful but NO cydia icon. I have a 3GS 4.1

You really don't want to do that with a 3GS. There is no way to go to 4.1 and retain the old baseband for unlocking until a new version of pwnage tool is released. You can save your SHSH with tiny umbrella.
 
Cydia page was blank for me a little bit today to, but after i restarted its been chill. Iphone 4 running 4.1 with preserved baseband, used limera1n beta 1. Also, the keyboards been acting funky in cydia for me, if i type anything i cant click delete to erase individual characters, I have to erase everything. PITA but other than that nothing major, even bite sms 5.0 beta 9a, mywi and my3g has been flawless

I never said that I was pirating apps first off. Secondly, unless you're an MR moderator, or an APP developer (which I kind of doubt you're either), you shouldn't really care if people are talking about installous.
 
My point is that if it doesn't affect you directly then you can either answer peoples questions about installous or not answer them, but don't b*tch at people for using it like you're some kind of elementary school hall monitor for Apple.

I had some problems with people not being able to hear me on the other end of a phone call. I could hear them just fine, but they couldn't hear me for some reason. Not even through speakerphone, or the plug in headset. But...to be totally honest, I don't know if i can credit that to the jb. I had the issue a couple times last week, but it was only a couple times, and the phone worked ok yesterday after I jb, but today, nothing. I had the problem on every single phone call I made or received today. I did a restore, and the phone is working fine now. Now I'm wondering if I should jb again. Any thoughts/ideas?

also.. wont the limera1n bugs be fixed up soon...this release was only a beta

I guess you have nothing to lose besides a little bit of time, try jbing again, if it gives you the same problem then it must be the jailbreak, although I kind of doubt it. If you try it let us know how it goes.

I realized that my version of iTunes was not the most recent. Once I upgraded, it worked fine. BTW, just ignore it when itunes starts during the install process.

I did jb again, and so far so good. I'll report back if I start having problems again.
 
I've jailbroken my wifes 4.1 twice and Cydia still isn't showing??!

Limera1n says its done both times without issue, device turned off and then back on and also hard reboot done to no avail...

No other options than start from scratch again?
