Hi guys,

need help.

Just bought an ipod touch 4g less than a month ago. Jailbroken with limerain. The thing is I seem to have busted the charging port with a third party charger. Now the thing won't charge nor sync.

i removed limerain and deleted all apps. can't find cydia but some cydia apps are still left. Now the battery is dead.

Is there anything that I can do to still be able to make use of the official warranty or some other method to repair it? Or am I truly f***ed?

Or am I truly f***ed?

Think so. You could send it away to some repair shops online and they might be able to fix it for you. Not sure how much that costs but it seems like your only option at this point. Guessing you didn't buy it new otherwise you would be able to get a replacement from Apple or something. If it was bought used then your options are pretty limited at this point. Either send it away to get it fixed or pony up the money and get another one.

Restore it as new it in itunes then you will be able to take it back to apple. don't say anything about the 3rd party charger. use a google search or check the stickies up top for how to restore. why people don't use google 1st!

I bought it new, jailbreak it myself. but the third party charger seems to be the culprit. Since it is jailbroken apple would probably not accept it.

The thing can't connect to a PC, thus I can't restore.

You could put it into DFU mode. That should wipe out any trace of the JB and then you can make up some story as to why it's in DFU mode and maybe the Genius's will believe you.

do this be nice google dfu mode since the accessory post doesn't work apple won't be able to plug it in to check if it's jb. your biggest problem will be the 3rd party charger. here is a tutorial for http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034. and hold off on the jb for abet do some more research about it 1st. it's not for everybody!

Don't you have to have the cable connected to get to DFU? I tried it, the screen stayed at the apple icon for a while and then went right back to slide to unlock screen while still holding home button.

The port is completely dead. The ipod battery is completely drained as well by now.

Haha.. didn't realize they wont be able to check either!

The JB went fine and all, just the third party charger that breaks the port. I couldn't imagine a third party charger could do such damage.

Thanks for the input guys.
