I'm not sure NYC would necessarily have longer lines, other than maybe it being a popular city for scalpers to travel to. There are 5 stores in the city, so that's around 1.6 million people per store, then when you consider the stores in NJ, CT, Westchester, the ratio drops considerably. In other parts of the country there might only be one Apple store in a several-hour radius, covering almost a million people. I'm not saying the city doesn't have longer than average lines, but I doubt it's huge difference.
 
This is bringing back memories of the original iPhone launch. iHype is at an all time high.

Well its well known that there are a few operations in NYC that basically smuggle Chinese people in here and then force them to be indentured servants to "pay" off the costs. Its a horrible human rights violation. I bet more than a few of the people towards the front of these lines are victims of this. They aren't going to see a single penny from their overnight wait.
 
WTF DON"T PEOPLE PREORDER !!!

THEY KNOW THIS **** HAPPENS every year? do they just get boners for losing 10+ hours of their life for a phone they could have gotten instantly for preordering. I preordered at Radioshack and Best buy. 1 or the other is giving me a phone haha. Got a call from both today that I can go pick them up.

Just like every video game console launch parents killing each other for a nintendo when if they just ordered it in march they wouldn't have to pay 2-3x more for one so little billy gets his X-mas present

get your facts straight first: NYers who are already on the NEXT program or plan to COULD NOT PRE ORDER ONLINE... I had a reservation through the Apple Store App and when i tried to complete the order, I got the message stating what I just said...

Was it just Apple website/app or you could not do it from AT&T website as well?
Not bashing you. I sympathize with you. Just curious.

by the time I got the email from Apple to complete my pre order and got the rejection message and went to the AT&T site, it was already a 3-4 week shipping wait...
