Hold on, so disabled people are not allowed to own iPhones or iPads? Damn I better get my wheelchair bound mother to return hers before you all start slagging her off!

I think your getting a bit confused, from what i have been reading people don't have a problem with him buying luxary gadgets (like ipads, iphones, MBP etc) because of hid disability, people have the issue with him buying luxury gadgets on state welfare money (benefits in uk) as this money is to provide you with essential things you may need to carry on having a normal life even with the disability and it is not givien so that you can buy things which i deemed luxary and not a Nesscertity for anyone let alone some one on state welfare money

Please tell me this is not true?

We had a long thread about it last June when he did the same for the iPhone 4. Justin's the one who brought up the disability to justify having a week of doing nothing last time. It kind of backfired when people were asking about buying an iPhone 4 with disability funds from taxpayers.

We never got confirmation, so I guess this time he spun his story and instead of claiming he's disabled, he just claims "he's on spring break from his non-profit job". I wonder if being disabled at home counts as "working for a non-profit" ? :D

Seriously, anyone doing 2 week long campouts in less than a year for a piece of consumerism driven plastic and metal deserves not scorn but pity. Especially if he pays for it with taxpayer dollars (and gets tax payer funded security to watch over him while he posts on MacRumors in the late hours of the night).

And again for those who missed it : This is a page 1 story because it became a 25 page thread in under a day. Click $ Click $ Click $.

Where is the proof?

Actual evidence to support your theory.

This Justin fellow is the one who said he was on disability himself last June. Find the last MR piece about this guy and read the epic flame fest that resulted. No, seriously, do it. Entertaining.

appologies if it's untrue, but i'm glad most people understand where im coming from, other than one guy who seems to think its related to his grandmother buying an ipad... what a child.

Yeah I know, it was posted tongue in cheek and maybe should have added a smiley. My mum suffers badly with multiple sclerosis and hasn't been able to work for the last 30yrs. Her only income is state benefits (welfare to those in USA). She saves really hard for anything that she wants to buy, and why shouldn't she? I'm not being funny your post makes it sound like disabled people should only expect to live a 'normal' life, without any so called 'luxury'. I'm sorry but that's just an awful thought, you don't think they should be able to take a holiday abroad or own a decent laptop etc?

Don't you love to hate Justin?? :D

Normally I only camp out over night, but since I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder and I am not in school at the point, I figure I just make it a fun experience and do it for a week.

I specifically said the thing that pisses me off the most about benifit frauds is they are making it harder for people who really NEED it to get money, people like your mum.

Hang in there, Justin. Hope you've got plenty of water.

This portion once again was not true. I remember you were one the main ones last year that you were one the first ones to make that assumption because you read I was employed and have a seizure disorder. Just because someone isn't working and has seizures or other disabilities does not mean they get benefits.

This whole thing about everyone thinking about me being on benefits was originated from multiple members who made the same assumption during the beginning. I never once made a statement or claim this was true.

This is all so sad...

I can't help but agree with those who find this article/rumor somewhat offensive.

This is bad not just for the person who made this cheap shot at fame but also for the person who relayed the information here and consequently for the hosting website who made this a first page news article.

I understand that some of you might like this kind of Chavish, Trashy, "Reality" TV like approach to things. But in all fairness most of us don't.

Make no mistake, we're all aplle fans here but that's pretty much what we all have in common.

Sorry, cats out of the bag. You can try to spin your initial comments as much as you want, you can't stuff it back in. We know, you know. End of story.

Go have fun with your friends during your spring break instead of playing homeless in front of a store, you'll get less hate and probably build more self confidence and won't require all this attention you seek.

He can try to spin his original comments as much as he wants, cats out of the bag as far as many are concerned. You seriously expect the guy to plainly admit it now after the roasting he got last time ? This "spring break" tale is just a diversion. Guy lost my respect last summer, he's not getting it back with grand legends of a series of days of no responsibility during the greenest of seasons.

Except this guy bought an iPhone 4 last year, and an iPad 2 this year and camps out for many Apple launches. Doesn't sound like he's struggling to find "money" for "luxury" like your mom.

This story is so funny. Shame most of the comments are instantly deleted.

Enjoy the tent.

I guess this confuses me.

If you're not on "benefits", is it because you can't qualify? If so, wouldn't this week be better spent on convincing the appropriate body that you should qualify?

If you are on "benefits", wouldn't you agree that sleeping outside for week demonstrates that you have the ability to function at a particularly high level? Furthermore, wouldn't this high-level functionality be more than enough to function in the workplace?

I'm just curious what your angle is? As you are now a more public figure, I would like to know if you're representing seizure-prone people well, before I provide you with support, whether financial, moral or general attention.

Thanks in advance for responding to my questions.

He has a really bad seizure problem. He seizes all the tax monies and apple products. :D

Just because someone has a disability and is not working or going to school, it DOES NOT automatically mean he is supported thru government funds. That, up until now, is merely an assumption. Who's not to say this boy comes from a wealthy family that is quite capable of supporting him (and his hobbies)? Why is it your job to ASSUME he feeds and houses himself through disability benefits? He NEVER claimed benefits of any kind.

Grow the **** up.

I concur with that. One thing I don't understand here is why this camping trip is on Page 1. I dislike that because it makes the members of MR look like a bunch of macfags. This, however, is technically not Justin's fault - so those who have a strong urge to complain about this, should FFS send a PM to arn instead of insulting Justin.

Posting his story to the front page does more damage to the image people of have of Mac users. Its a) creepy and b) waste of time with a bit of c) what a bunch of losers

As for what it brings out about the MR posters, you obviously not been part of the hate fest that apparently is wholly acceptable behavior in Politics

I appreciate what you're trying to get at here but you have to agree, there is no actual evidence that categorically proves with out any doubt that he is receiving disablility related funding from the US government.

Until this can be proven, without doubt and prejudice, it is unfair to state otherwise.

Ugh! I'm now guilty of it (for responding to this thread) but damn. If so many people wouldn't bother responding maybe it will just go away. :D
