I voted negative on the story, because I'm not sure it should be a page 1 item. It's a guy in a tent waiting to buy a product that lots of others will buy at about the same time who didn't wait in a tent for 4 days.

That said, I find the extremity of many of the comments in this thread quite over the top. If he wants to camp outside the Apple store and they are happy for him to do so, he's not hurting anyone and it seems to make him happy, so good luck to him I say.

Like I said before, it doesn't bother me nor do I care if someone is camping out for a product (i'm sure there are a few others doing the same atm)

But when someone becomes a celebrity for doing this, only one thing comes to mind...

...the de-evolution of society :(

Generally speaking I tend to have three criteria, I don't care as long as it is:

1) Consensual.
2) I don't have to pay for or cover the consequences.
3) I'm not forced to watch it.

Then I really don't give a flying continental but as someone noted apparently he is on a sickness benefit which makes me wonder just how 'sick' this person is to 'rough it' in a tent and purchase a fairly pricy device.

What's with all the screening of posts? We're just speaking our minds. I find it odd that this dude who happens to be camped next to an Apple Store isn't having his posts axed. Or at least I suspect as much.

Maybe some were taking it too far. I offered my two cents to one poster, who didn't take it well, but was hoping to reconcile. Now his post and mine is gone. Awesome.

If you just follow the rules your posts will be left alone. :)

This guy really needs a girlfriend.

Well then he would just pitch a tent outside her house on Monday because he has a date with her on Friday.

ROFL.

Anyways, this guy's non profit organization is probably something the lines of helping his mom with housework...

I seriously doubt after last years admittance of being on disability that anything has changed.

Live with mom = free rent & board
Get on disability = money to spend each month

Would be classic to just pitch a tent on a normal, none-release day, and sit there like an idiot for no apparent reason... oh wait a minute...

Justin Wagoner Hero

I don't understand all the fuzz. Justin Wagoner is a classA iHero.

Obviously cause Justin is buying his ipad using government disability funds while at the same time camping out for several days.

Go through the forum and read my response which I have posted already many times.

1st I'm on my spring break week. 2nd. I have a career in the non-profit sector.

As for the disability thing goes. While this has been brought up by many, this is not something I said or confirmed. It was only assumed by members and thats how it originated. While it is true I was unemployed last year and I do have a seizure disorder. I never said I was on benefits of any kind.

Hi,

I can understand that you can get excited about new products but this camping thing is too weird for me. I don't get the intention of it anyway.

Anyway I don't think it's worth mentioning in the news as it's simply not important. If he would like to do that fine but we don't need any news about it.

Jobs do not normally have a spring break except for teachers, professors, etc..., but thanks for playing.

Jobs have vacation. School has spring break. Now you know, so next time when you need to lie, you will know what to say.

And again, as I said above, housework with your mom does not constitute a job and just because your mom does not pay you, does not make it a non-profit career.

I think the big issue here why was there a story in the first place? That's the thing that really bothers me. "News" in this country is anything but. I don't care that this guy wants to camp out for a piece of electronics. I think it's sad and that he's wasting his life worrying about being the first in line for the next overpriced iDevice but so be it. As others have said, he's really not hurting anything.

but it boggles my mind that anyone would claim any sort of 'celebrity' status over the simple act of sleeping on the sidewalk. If that were the case, all the homeless in America would be on E! (that fact that E! even exists is proof positive of the shallow nature of American society and that we are most definitely on the downside of the hill....think Rome circa 350AD)

Thought it's another conversation, the fact that he is allowed to stay and someone who did not have a home to go to would not is another condemnation of this country that has sorely lost its way.

But still....here I am talking about it, if only to decry the conversation itself. This guy is not news. How many people do inane, silly, or useless things in a given day? More than I care to think about. And a shocking number of them get press for it because the average American is certainly not what I would call "intellectual."

Liking apple is fine. Even being so over the top that you think camping out in front of the store just to be first in line is a reasonable choice is fine. But that fact that this is news and people are getting worked up over it is truly the sad part.

Move along people, nothing to see here.....except for nearly 600 posts. *sigh*

Look, I'm not here to say you have to believe me and could care less rather you do or not. I'm just stating facts here.

Sure schools offer spring breaks, but non-profit organizations also who operate on strict budgets and rely on fundraising and/or some money from the government also do offer spring break vacations if they wish.

Until you actually know me personally and have your fact straight, your comments are just assumptions. However since iv already gave the facts, I guess you're just bored and have to come on here to start trolling for fun.

Let me also remind you that monderators are monitoring this thread before you decide to continue.

LOL Violently................hangon we are posting messages about him in large numbers

what sad day:mad:

All these posts and no one brings up the best counter : If the dude is really on spring break, why isn't he out partying with friends ? What are Justin's buddies doing this week that is so boring that sitting outside a store playing homeless is more fun ?

Keep watching MR Mystery theater for the answer!

***Moderator Note: While Justin has made himself a public figure, he is also a MacRumors forum member. Consequently, personal insults directed at him are not permitted in the forums.

So.... if he hadn't registered, we could insult him all we want, but just because you're now sure he reads it, we can't ?

Makes. Total. Sense.

You know what, good for him.

People queue up days sometimes for video games. At least this is a little more substantial and it's his own choice to do so.

After reading ONE page of this story, all I saw were people digging at this guy.

Seriously, give people respect for what they choose to do.

What a total waste of time. Guess Andy Rooney was right, though this kind of fame is, uh, not the type I can imagine anyone with dignity would want.

With the first post warning I guess the L word is not allowed?
