Then there's this if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

In certain cases this is true, but this is not one of them. You were given constructive criticism about the clarity of your post and advised to be more clear in getting your point across with better grammar. I think this is good advice, especially in a discussion forum.

Lol actually it does apply every where even supposedly with constructive criticism if it is not done nicely and the way it was said was not nice. It should have been said hey can you please try to use grammar this is a little hard to read and i would not have been mad.

I think the crash and freezon is caused by your small RAM. It happened to me before I upgraded my Ram. Go to upgarde your Ram, and you probably will change your mind. The lion works like a cham to me, I can not even think about looking back.

I upgraded my 2010 MBP to 8GB of RAM from 4GB and Lion has been working great. I'd been wanting work to pay for more RAM for a while and Lion was a great excuse.

Works for me (mostly). Didn't work for my wife. I wound up running a gigabit ethernet cable to her mini so she could stay on the internet. I haven't had problems keeping machines on the internet since I used ... windows ...

Let's hope Apple figures out this whole intermittent wifi thing soon. I haven't pulled ethernet wires around our house since the mid 1990s.

The main problem I have is it's too easy to go back to SL .

So far, on my 4GB 2010 MBA I've clean installed 10.7 at least 3 times and 10.7.1 twice. I've never been able to use it trouble free for more than 24 hours without freezes, beachballs, stuttering scrolling, terrible TM performance, and wireless problems. It takes me about 10 minutes to TM back to a flawless SL .........

Then I read here how it's all fine, I should just get used to Lion, and re-install Lion to a freshly formatted drive ..... :(

If you are really having this many problems, then your system may have serious issues unrelated to Lion.

My MacBook Pro started to crash after updating to Lion.

First started with Firefox, then Safari, now Skype...

What's next?

Apple's reputation is going down!

Doubt it since not EVER a hiccup with SL and I'm not the only one having the same problems. All the "many problems" are things I could live with if SL wasn't so trouble free. My bet is it will be fine around 10.7.4 .....

Well, Lion works fine on my 2009 17" MacBook Pro.

You know what's really terribly? People freakin' complaining about Lion. Yeah, that's what we all love to come and read here.

You know, when I came here to check this place out, I was hoping we would be talking about things they've learnt in Lion. Tips, tricks, stuff that I didn't know.

Instead it's all about Lion sucks, it eats too much RAM, this doesn't work, I'm going back, and that's about it. Just people whining and complaining... and then the other faction telling people to chill or chiming in on how much they love it.

I keep hoping for something interesting that'll expand my knowledge on the OS, but every day, that bit of hope erodes just slightly...

I have a 15" macbook pro laptop and this might work better on a desktop. Another reply suggested dumping older app suites. Have you any idea how much Adobe suites are? Many of us have one level back because it's sooo costly. If conflicts with software programs was a risk, Apple should have issued a caution.
I work on my computer so I have maxed-out memory. Believe me, it's not memory. I designed this to run BIG programs.
Safari is slow.

To be honest, if this were Microsoft, I'd be grateful I could run anything but this is MAC! And we have grown to expect better. I have worshiped Steve Jobs at the altar of Mac since I was a kid. This is not acceptable; I paid a little over $2200 for my laptop ( with maxed-out memory). It's a Rolls Royce so I don't accept Ford performance. No excuse, Steve.

You don't need to dump your pro apps, but you do need to do research prior to upgrading to ensure they are compatible. Developers of large applications tend to update things on their own time, Adobe is no exception. Also, if you choose to run older generations of these apps, be prepared to sometimes be disappointed. If the developer doesn't support it anymore, then it will likely not be updated to work with new operating systems. This is common sense.

Another factor that is typically overlooked is Spotlight indexing. It takes a while, and the more stuff you have on your machine, the longer it has to work. This is nothing new, but everyone seems shocked by it.

Also...The whole sarcastically blaming "Steve" thing is really in poor taste right now.

I don't know what's worse... the people complaining or those complaining about the complainers.

Dude... if you don't like whining and see a thread titled, "Lion is terrible" then it just makes sense to just skip it and not join the fray.

Lion is so buggy

Use MAC for 7 years and love its software, especially from Apple (except for iTunes). But Lion is definitely one of the worst experience in OS stability.
I was on Leopard and it goes for months with problem.

Stability
* The OS crash on me daily (more than once). Not consistently, but it does
** Crash when switching location and change WIFI network
** Crash when asked to go to sleep. You close the lid to go to a conference room for presentation, and it locked up -- that's a nice touch (even do that when I manually sleep).
** Crash when connect to external monitor

Usability
* Reverse in scrolling direction on the pad. That's is nice for the iPad crowd but is a huge time waster for older laptop users, especially if they also have to use Windows and Linux in their work
* The slow startup and open all previous applications - guess it related to keeping persistence for your document. This now feels like "Windoze"
* The aggressive text selector - try to guess what the user wanted and over select. Except the guesser is often wrong.

The ideas are nice, but execution is certainly not "Apple" like.

Is your system wide instability a lion problem, or a problem with your system? I have no problems doing any of the things you mention. People often assume that any problems after a system upgrade is due to the OS and everyone has the problem. Don't get me wrong, you should complain, and complain to Apple, just don't do it with the "there's no hope with Lion attitude" because your issues can be fixed without having to go back to Snow Leopard.

People have had these issues with every major MacOS X upgrade, and they all went away over time.

As for you usability critique, if you are a trackpad user, I say give it one week and you'll be fine. If you use a scroll mouse, change the preference. That's why Apple provided it. It's not really an issue if you can turn it off.

The slow startup can be avoided by unchecking the option when you shut down. I really don't understand all the complaints about this - why are people shutting down all the time. Have you not heard of sleep? You know; the function that reduces the power of your computer but still leaves it booting - so much that it offsets the power used while waiting for your Mac to start up the next time.

As for aggressive text selecting, I have no idea what you are talking about.

I'd say anyone familiar with SL is also familiar with sleep . With SL I was able to use only sleep for weeks. :)

With Lion I had to shut down daily to temporarily remedy choppy scrolling, slowed performance, weird video screens, and most importantly to recover SL :D.

I concur that Lion is terrible. Well, I wouldn't go that far, but it is certainly the worst offering from Apple in a long time.

After more than a month of using Lion, I haven't had a single freeze-up or crash. It's been a smooth, pain-free experience with only a few very minor bugs. The download itself was a little messy. I can tell you I switched to high speed internet after that.

I am sooooooo sorry I installed Lion. Real problems! I have NEVER had a Mac freeze before. Now it freezes or crashes several times a day! Software programs launch by themselves, files open. What a nightmare! Believe me this will kill Apple's impeccable reputation with its devotees. I have looked for upgrades to fix this but so far nothing. I have to run disk repair! UGH!!!!!!!! Good Grief!

Even though Lion hasn't been terrific. Apple devotees would never abandon Apple. Steve Jobs could have an affair with their spouse and post the video of it on their Facebook page. Then cook and eat their cat for dinner and run over their dog on the way out. Yet still apple fans will never stop praising Apple's products no matter what. Just the way that goes.
