dang bro it's just an apple designed paperclip :D

anywho well if that's apparently it then...not bad work. I really couldn't tell a difference but then again I never had to take out the sim card.

Yep, and some might say it is artistic, beautiful, and something that I want. But it doesn't hold paper together well if you drop it.

While the MS crowd says, their MS Paperclip is cheaper and has more applications.

IMO - The iPhone is thin enough!

Any thinner and it will feel too flimsy in the hand, even if it is structurally rigid.

Wouldn't it just be used for the antenna ring. If so, that wouldn't effect the thinness of the iPhone would it?

Next time Apple want to show off the sim tool please use a hand model and not some AIDS infested scabies ridden mutant. That is all.

While the MS crowd says, their MS Paperclip is cheaper and has more applications, requires 3 confirmations to use, and attracts viruses.

Fixed it for you. ;)

Photo not by Apple. The weird looking part is likely to be light reflection.

Hmmmm... I've had 3 iPhone's and I've never once been concerned with the strength of the external casing.

No, my concern has been over the GLASS. The same as everyone else. GLASS.

Not anymore. It was included with 3G and (I think) 3GS.
I have one from my 3Gs.

Trying to intentionally start a flame war when obviously no one has yet 3...2...1...

OH EM GEE!!! I can't replace my battery!!! Dang, this means I can't go buy and extra battery for like $70 just for those few days I may need it!!!!!11!!one11!!!1!!!

I tried to start one for him. ;)

Is this the same SIM ejector tool that I bent the hell out of trying to eject my SIM card? Hope not.

And this business about removable batteries: I had my original iPhone for over two years, and never felt battery life was an issue.

There are all the an*l types that can't take any sign of use. OMG it has a scratch that I can see under a microscope, my life is ruined!

You're not kidding. I sold my 3GS unlocked on eBay with iOS4 right before the iPhone 4 was released. The buyer complained that there was a small, tiny scratch near the SIM card tray. I have a 100% rating on eBay, or rather HAD, because even sending $50 of the $325 back he still wasn't satisfied and wrote a nasty review... over a scratch I posted on the description... that was barely noticeable... Donnez-moi un break...

OnT: Does anyone know the pliability of the metal? Is it strong enough for all purpose use? I think it's great that Apple is using more recyclable materials, the increase of aluminum, glass, etc. equates to less e-waste, better cooling with aluminum, and a much more solid/durable case.

I was perusing BestBuy the other day and noticed that many of the laptops they sell have glossy screens, but made of plastic. A lot of people complain about Apple using glass on their displays which creates apparent issues with regard to reflection, but I haven't read much regarding the 90%+ non-Apple laptops that have glossy plastic LCD's. Personally, I don't mind it, and if glossy displays are generally more commonplace I'd rather buy from a company that supports recyclable materials such as there recent endeavors with metals.

Liquid metal??? Pshh, I don't want my phone spilling all over the floor

haha I can imagine future complaints: "Apple faces new lawsuit over iPhone 5's liquid metal cases that melt in their hands, and in their mouths."

Does that tool comes with the iPhone? I've never seen it before...

Most (all?) SIM locked iP4s are shipped w/o a SIM Tool (didn't get one with my iP4 locked to T-Mobile Germany), though it should be included with any factory unlocked iP4.

The heck with the material science, I'm way more concerned that the guy in the picture has some clubbing of their fingernails!

That can be a sign of underlying disease - get checked out, dude, whomever you are....

I can't tell what my 3G's sim tool is made of. It is really shiny like a new dime and easy to bend. I've never used it until now, works good lol

Hmm liquid metal Macbook Pros / Airs / or whatever

Hmm, a Macbook Pro with a liquid metal case, no cd/dvd player, hdmi in and out ports and an iPad like touch screen. I wonder what that will weigh and if Apple is considering it.

if thats the crap they made the SIM removal tool out of, then it's flimsy and i wouldn't want something built from it. Maybe internals, but not externals.

And you speak from what experience?

What makes you say it's flimsy?
What makes you call it crap?

How can you tell from just a photograph that it's going to be crappy and flimsy?

I got one with my iphone 4 from T-mobile UK?

It does have 'China' printed/etched on the side of the tool so it may not be liquid metal?

The Omega video wasn't very impressive to me...they injected the metal into a ceramic mold? It's cosmetic. I don't think Apple bought it because it looks good and would make nice, durable logos.

http://www.cultofmac.com/liquidmeta...y-may-make-new-iphone-antenna-exclusive/54827

Now this is some better cosmetic stuff. Apparently you can etch extremely fine detail into the metal and do things like holograms in the metal and non slip metal. Theres also some stuff about making folding metal phones and one piece hinges, which is also very nice.

But the best part about liquid metal from the demonstration video, and confirmed by the article, is that it seems to store energy a lot better than conventional metals. That means it would make for really good antennas and wi fi reception in laptops and iphones, and better heat dispersion....
