But you got to account for the Financial District is closer to the Eaton Centre location than the one at Yorkdale. Yorkdale seems more expensive but is it really more expensive than Fairview or even Square One?

Well,... yeah, sure. But considering the fact that usually, when high-class stores want to show up in Canada and choose Toronto in their first location, Yorkdale is a popular choice. It does also have its fair share of luxury brands as well, and its expanding at the moment for more stores (including a large Nordstrom store coming next year).

Also, on top of that, Yorkdale is the larger one in Ontario actually (especially after the last Yorkdale expansion) and... well, the Eaton Centre one doesn't have a lot of space (it's almost always crowded), whereas the Yorkdale one is... okay, that's crowded as well, but at least it's actually manageable. I would think that Yorkdale has enough of a reason to be part of that list.

Of course, if there some stores in Yorkdale that are also selling the Apple Watch Edition, then I guess that's a good enough reason to drop that Apple Store from the list...

Cool, I'm 5 minutes walking from Regent Street one, 10 from Covent Garden and 15 from Selfridges.
I'll buy 3 Edition

Wait, what? Why Eaton Centre and not Yorkdale? The Yorkdale Apple Store is the larger of the two, the one that gets all the Apple products and sends them to the other Apple Stores in Toronto (according to an employee that I spoke to), has consistently more foot traffic than the Eaton Centre one, AND is the first Apple Store to show up in Canada, and yet it doesn’t have the Apple Watch Edition in Yorkdale? What gives? Do they not like Yorkdale or something?

Not that I care too much (I’m buying the Steel one), but I find that to be very odd.

That is weird. To me, Yorkdale seems to have more high priced luxory stores than the Eaton Centre.

I'll be in Vegas the weekend and following week of launch. It will be real tempting to go check it out. ;) If I win big I may just go get one heh heh*

*actually no I would save my winnings but in my dreams I would!

Pity the Massachusetts customers buying Apple Watch Edition. $625 sales tax on the $10,000 watch, and this time they can't avoid it by driving up to Salem or Nashua, New Hampshire. (Actually, I don't have much pity for Edition customers. But I have less pity for the big-spending MA government.)

We have whole jewelry stores in NH that exist mainly so the sister stores in Boston can offer their customers the convenience of picking up their purchase in New Hampshire. ;)

Glad to see the Tyson's Corner, VA on the list. For those that might not remember, it is the very first Apple Store.

Apple Watch Edition VERY limited locations

I am quite surprised and a bit unhappy that the locations for watch edition sales are so limited. This is especially true in Boston.

Frankly, I'll feel obliged to travel in town on a weekday as I am not leaving this to somebody else. As I understand it, the customer service at time of purchase is supposed to be quite good and it seems a waste to send a courier.

I can't help but think Apple didn't think this through or isn't "really" ready to launch.

Downtown is just such a hassle anymore.

Useful information... for those of us looking to drop 10K+ on a smart watch.

Me too. Some word should come before "Edition".

Actually, there is.

It hasn't been widely publicized, but Apple has a name for each standard model/configuration of the Apple Watch Edition.

Here's a partial list:

Pimp Edition
(42mm Gold with White sport band)

Investment Banker Edition
(42mm Gold with classic leather buckle)

Divorce Settlement Edition
(38mm Rose Gold with modern buckle)

Chinese Edition
(38mm Yellow Gold with red modern buckle)

Corrupt Cop Edition
(42mm Gold with Black sport band)

Makes sense. Basically where the strongest financial concentrations are.

Not exactly. If you were to make a top ten list of richest counties in the U.S. I lived in one... in Colorado (Douglas county #9). There are three Apple stores here (in the tech center) and none of them is carrying the Edition. I'd call it an oversight, but I don't know what the numbers look like from Apple's perspective. It does surprise the hell out of me though, considering the states listed with the top 15 wealthiest counties, Colorado is the only one in the list not represented in Apples list.

Yeah, they probably figured a lot of people would be ordering it online; for everyone else, they seem to have only put them in areas full of high-end shops, the kind of places more likely to already be familiar to their potential customers. Apple said the Edition watches would have more limited numbers as they don't expect to sell a lot of them quickly.

Lame Edition
Poser Edition
I have too much money Edition
Deuche Edition

I love Apple and their products. I think the Watch has potential. But I wont be purchasing one.

Spellcheck Edition?

For those concerned about the Edition being a poor, short-term investment: what if the guts are modular and when the next faster, more improved watch comes out it can be swapped into the Edition casing for a fee? Yes, future casings will probably be thinner and different but I would imagine the value of a first edition Edition could be considerable. That's all depending on the guts being swappable, though. Gruber has a very interesting discussion of this in one of his The Talk Show podcasts.

A lot of writing about this Edition, but the real question is: who cares?
It's a very niche product, how many they are planning to sell ?

Interesting. Would have put money on it being available in Düsseldorf, Germany, as the store is located at Königsallee, where lots of other stores selling luxury goods are located.

That's a surprisingly short list.

One can find (real) Rolex Presidents in jewelry stores in just about any Mall. Smaller malls may hardly ever sell one but showing one can drive sales of lower-priced alternatives. Once one contemplates $17K (even in wildest fantasies), prices at $1200 or $1000 can seem like bargains.

It's a very common jewelry-industry tactic to display the President to shock an interested buyer (with the price tag reveal) and then show them another Rolex that probably costs 50 times more than the one they have on their wrist and it will seem much more affordable. In college, I sold a ton of Rolex watches via that very scenario.

However, it doesn't work the other way. If they look at a Rolex look-a-like from Seiko or similar at a few hundred dollars, it almost never leads to the sale of a Rolex President.

Even with the security risk, I'm surprised Apple didn't go with one in just about every store. Stock 1 or 2 for those who would actually buy one on the spot and be ready to rush more in as they sell. At $17K, they could even do "white glove" delivery and in-home setup if they ran out of stock of that model.

You do realize that there's nothing in the article, or that I've read elsewhere, that says every store won't have a couple editions for display. You just can't pick one up at most stores, you'll need to on-line order, or in-store order. That's the way I would do it.
