i have the dbrand grip and the magsafe works but its very weak. doesn't hold on a car mount and holds just enough on the belkin 3 in 1 charger but any bump its fall off.

I don’t think the Pitaka MagEz would be considered “Built in MagSafe” I have this case, love the size and build but it is not a “MagSafe” case. I have a magnetic stand and this case is much less magnetic than the Apple Cases.

Also, to me… MagSafe = acknowledgement on screen with the animation. Other than that should be considered “compatible“ but that simply means it charges wirelessly from a MagSafe charger.

There is a Pitaka MagEZ 2 which has magnets. It's completely different than the MagEZ.

I pretty much only put cases that have the actual “MagSafe” ring in the case. I didn’t include thinner cases such as Tech21 Evo Clear that are thin enough to use MagSafe.

the dbrand grip case does not have a magsafe ring built into the case its just thin enough to use it

false advertisement i have the 2021 version and unless mines defective theres no magsafe ring at all or the magnets are very weak, the magsafe connects to it but absolutely will not hold it up and wont stay on the belkin magsafe car mount and any bump it falls off the belkin 3 in 1 charger

Are you sure you have the magsafe one? There's 2 different options on the website. I ordered one and have yet to receive it.

According to this video "it'll grip just as firmly onto the case as it does a naked iphone"

yes i ordered the magsafe compatible one so unless they sent me the wrong one then no it does not attach that firm onto the iphone at all, even in my order receipt it says Dbrand Gip Case Magsafe Compatible iPhone 12 Pro Max. Don't get me wrong i do like this case but its not fully magsafe compatible the magsafe charger will attach to the case and wont fall off but is not strong enough to support the device like it does even on the naked iPhone.

you should hit up DBrand and they will replace it. I had a couple of mutuals with the same problem apparently the 2020 batch didn’t have magsafe in addition to it falling apart.

im not the only one with this either, at the end of this video it shows how weak the magsafe is

I agree.. i do think that it should only apply to cases that actually USE the MagSafe technology. I have a case from Amazon, has the ring and line on it.. not MagSafe, but looks like it.

To me… MagSafe = The iPhone 12 acknowledges it as so, otherwise this thread will be filled with cheap knockoffs (like the Amazon case i have)

Great list. But which one is the thinnest? I have the apple case but even a thing case (0.03mm) weaken the magnetic attachment. Like my iPhone falls when using my thin case and hitting a bump on the road.
 
ok after some testing in turns out the Dbrand Grip case does in fact have magnets built into the case, however there not as strong as apples magsafe ring, so yes it does have magsafe though i wouldnt use it with a car mount
