How old are the mapping in your cities? In Madrid they are more than one year later at least in some zones
I've made a list of more than 80 cities in Europe supporting the building outlines. I'll update the list, if feel that much bored again![]()
Really? 'Cause you can see that the Lope de Vega theatre is showing El Rey León and it premiered on October 2011.
In Birmingham you can clearly see ad's for the new Samsung Galaxy S3. So pretty upto date.
A request from us non-devs, if you find a new place, can you upload a screen grab?
Thanks.
A little shocked New York isn't in there yet.
I actually have a question regarding NYC, even though it's also valid for any other city.
With a city like New York, which is constantly growing and that has quite a few skyscrapers/supertalls under construction (i.e. One WTC and One57), do you think Apple will update the 3D data of those particular areas more often? Specially with the One WTC, which is a symbol to the US, I doubt Apple will still show it U/C once it's topped out or completed.
Maybe that's why NY is still not available, because they want it as up-to-date as possible.
Just checking the extent of the building footprints in London and they just cut off at a sharp edge, so there's probably more extended data to be added.
Can anyone see if UC Berkeley has flyover maps yet? The Nokia version does. Post a screenshot if you can... I'd love to see now the Campanile (clock tower) and Doe Library look.
In Birmingham you can clearly see ad's for the new Samsung Galaxy S3. So pretty upto date.
Not sure where the clock tower is but this screenshot should answer your question.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure that data comes from the Ordinance Survey, which covers the entire UK. Seems like Apple have arbitrarily cut it to an area around central London.

Speaking of London...

This app, called "Recce", is what Apple Maps should have looked like. Pretty Amazing model of London. It only supports one city so is admittedly really just a tech demo at this stage, but it's much smoother, clearer, and more fun to navigate around compared to Apple's 3D cities and even features cars and trains moving around!
Check it out here: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/recce-london/id539951375?mt=8
Love the cliff detail.
