Well im right there with you mate. My house is like an Apple showroom and yet im still having ever increasing doubts. To lose my current maps app for one that doesnt do anything new (yet) and in fact loses functionality is a bit of slap.
does anyone know if istanbul is going to have 3d mapping in the near future? or building outlines or at least some terrain?
it's one of the most crowded cities and it's indeed a touristic, historic city that would be great to see in 3d rather than some concrete jungle skyscraper cities. Don't you think? Just like Rome.
At the end of the day istanbul and rome are the capitals of the two largest empires in the modern era. they have lot's of history to be seen.
also, it's a shocker that paris doesn't have 3d.

Guys, nobody can possibly know when future cities will be added, unless he's working for Apple (and then I doubt he'd leak it into a forum). Just keep checking back and more cities will be added.

I'm kinda confused by the 2d/3d. Are the 2D/3D outlines what is shown during navigation? I didn't realize they had 2D building outlines. How can some places have 2D and flyover? So does that mean that even though they have flyover, the actual 3D outlines of buildings won't be shown while navigating ?
So far they don't appear to have added new ones in between updates. We might not see anymore until iOS 6.1

Not every city features 2D or 3D outlines, so I believe, that they have to create them manually. Most cities with Flyover also have building outlines, but there are some exceptions.

Was hoping there might be more.
Knoxville, Tennessee also supports 2D Building outlines, at least the Downtown area (Hopefully we'll be getting 3D and Flyover soon!)
I've noticed that some cities are better than others. Sydney for example is amazing!
The London 3D coverage is a bit half-assed. Sure they have covered main landmarks, but coverage ends fairly abruptly before picking up again. For instance, Tower Bridge is of course covered (a fairly recent picture at that, with Olympic rings), however a 100 yards east of it coverage ends, before picking up again once it reaches Stratford (Olympic Park).
