Still can't get Statue of Liberty in 3D.

Strange. It's working for me fine. Can confirm that it is also working on my iPhone 4S.

Here is also a screenshot of it in standard view.

Wow! I honestly have just had my breath taken away. That's fantastic. In what, 5 years time when they have global coverage this is going to be one amazing feature!

If you don't want to wait 5 years go download the Google Earth app.

They were pissed about all the UK folks bitching about maps, so they're holding it back from you guys...:D

No, no, looks like I have 3D here. At least it says so at the bottom of the screen.

And they change the photo too, that long shadow is gone.

Got to love Apple's attention to detail... now they've fixed everything else it's good to know they're spending so long on the little things

No that is not the 3D with modeled buildings.

And why do you complain, Google had years to wait for the one sunny day in the UK, Apple just needs to wait for the next one.

Didn't see it yesterday, now it is there...just a cache thing.

That's because the same image is used for the 2D view.

I'm still not seeing it, I must have a lot of cache. ;)

Here's a list of a "few" cities around the world supporting 2D building outlines, 3D building outlines and/or Flyover. I've started it a while ago and already posted an earlier version here and after spending another afternoonon it, here is the result:

Looks like a few updates are required. :)

the only place I can see in 3d non flyover mode is the Statue of Liberty. anyone else have this problem?

NYC also got 3D buildings in vector mode.

The visual styling is pretty neat.

I’m curious to know whether they plan to have someone flag every building for whether it should be stylized with vertical, horizontal, or grid windows--or none maybe. I know it’s just a “schematic” city and even the building shapes are simplified “icons” of a sort, but it would be cool to have the closest of those 4 simple styles match each real building. (But I suspect it’s just random and always will be.)
