Nice find! Apple is still checking the IP address, though (the stream wouldn't load until I turned on VPN).
OK, that's not so good. I thought the stream itself might not be geo-fenced. It still works great on my Yamaha stereo receiver though which does Webstreaming.

As a South African i'm genuinely surprised its available here. With more and more services being made available here, and the improvement of apps available on our store I may eventually ditch my US account in favor of a local one :D

Yeah bit annoying. they need a better error message then just "Unable to Start Station".

It's really annoying and it went away the minute I started my membership.
They should hide the radio or disable the tap on them if you are not able to play them

Apple Music available in India! Also it is very cheap at Rs.130/month for single account, which equates to $2/month.

Are the Music libraries for all countries the same? Or does USA have a wider collection of songs available?

I'm in Hungary and I can listen to Apple Music apparently, as I'm on the UK store. If you're in an unsupported country, all you have to do is change your store's country and voila!

Edit: Actually I have no idea how/if this works - stuff seems to be there but when I click on it not much happens. Anyway, you can get around most iTunes limitations by simply swapping your country. They don't actually check your IP address or anything before allowing you to change the store. Whether the content is available is another question...

I tuned in, and it really seems to have the issue everyone predicted for a "single radio station for everyone". The music just isn't to my taste. It seems to very much focus on the teenage audience.

Way too much autotune and vocoder for my liking. Almost every song has the "Cher Effect" (and a rap solo).

BBC has Radio 1, Radio 2, etc... Apple needs the same. It may come in time, but for now, it seems they've gone for something to appeal to a teenage audience.

There's a reason that BBC Radio 2 has an audience share three times that of BBC Radio 1... a larger audience exists for adult contemporary music and AOR than for chart hits. Hopefully Apple realises this soon.
They just played Gimme Shelter and Paint it Black, back-to-back. So a bit ironic that you complained of no Rolling Stones. Perhaps people should wait for more than 2 songs before proclaiming what "type" of music Beats 1 plays. They haven't even been on a full 24 hours.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I follow the comments about targeting the teenage music audience.

St Vincent's first Mix Tape (for an 11 year old who wrote in) has included Depeche Mode's Blue Monday, Deee-Lite's Groove is the Heart and Devo's Whip It.

From what I have listened to so far, it seems to bear a lot more resemblance to the BBC's 6music. Granted, Zane Lowe might be overlapping Radio 1 more in the Venn Diagram artists, but overall I think it's a good mix of music I know and (most importantly) the music I don't know is making start to look up the artists on iTunes.

Not available in Taiwan?? Interesting.

I don't understand how iTR was basically in 1 country for 'decades' but this is everywhere at release.

All the sudden they could make agreements with Beats? Weird. Just because of Jimmy?

I have a US account but I work in Taiwan, so I get 90% of the Apple Music deal EXCEPT Beats 1. I wonder if I stick with it if I'll get a 10% discount? Probably not. Oh well, mei banfa :(

What happens if you signed up for Apple Music in a supported country, then travel to an unsupported country? For music saved offline, I can't imagine any scenario other than it playing properly on your device. But what about streaming? It appears Apple is using IP address to determine location (hence people using VPNs to listen to Beats 1 Radio), so it's not clear whether streaming would continue to work outside your home country when you travel. By contrast, Spotify will stream to you worldwide (at least the premium version does), and it uses the country associated with your account to determine your "home country" (just like Apple does using the country associated with your Apple ID for the iTunes/App stores).

I have a US iTunes account and I can download albums from Apple Music, and stream all songs and "stations" except Beats 1. Beats 1 uses an IP gateway, the other stuff is based on account location.

Yes, but listeners generally fall into one of a few different broad groupings. Hence why the BBC has Radio 1, Radio 2, etc.

Beats is more similar to Radio 1 than Radio 2.

Yet, in the UK, Radio 2 has three times the listener base of Radio 1.

It seems Apple dropped the ball by launching with only a youth-oriented station, and not also offering an adult-contemporary station.

There plenty of other "stations" from alternative to indie to classic hip-hop to smooth jazz to Christian.

No "DJ" on those stations though but plenty of music to choose from. I'm looking at all the stations now. Listening to Classic Alternative now.

You must use a VPN and then works fine

no u don't ...

My take is Apple Music is always larger in U.S. :) just like all other streaming content right ?so with that all u need is a US itunes account ... since Apple like to think Apple fans do the right thing (.....ya right )

And good thing is unlike Match, you no longer need to signup with a CC on file... if u have store credit, they'll do nicely.

Thank you Apple ...

Completely untrue MacRumors, Apple Music and Apple Music Radio is available in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory and Apple treats it accordingly. For example, iTunes Radio, before its demise, was available in the United States (extended to Puerto Rico) and Australia. The only thing I'm having problems with is Beats 1, it's giving out a 403 error on iOS. Attached is proof that the Apple Music and Apple Music Radio (currently playing On The Floor radio) is available in Puerto Rico. No VPN.

The mainstream media doesn't even know Puerto Rico is part of the United States, remember how they told everyone that Sonia Sotomayor was the "daughter of immigrants". Although, there appears to be a benefit because an Apple Music subscription is only $5.99 in Puerto Rico.

Really? Where is that price? I got the standard prices of $9.99 and $14.99.

I was really looking forward to Beats 1, I was expecting more a mix of classic rock and top 40, but being in my 40's myself, most of what they are playing is just unlistenable to me. I detest rap, and I have no idea what the hell this other stuff is they are playing, but I am clearly not the target demo. Beats 1 is a disappointment to me.

I just went to apple.com and switched the "country" to Puerto Rico, although I now notice that this directs you to Apple's generic Latin America website.

It is interesting to me to see the different pricing between countries. Some countries being cheaper, like India is expected. But, for instance within the Eurozone, in Germany it cost €9.99 but directly East in Poland it is only €4.99. I assume Apple is just matching competitors pricing.

This radio will now spread the U.S. rap trash among world teens. They should've make a more variable music choice for the "world radio". If it's really world radio then it should include current European, Asian etc hits. That one would be truly great and uniting station.
