Targus VersaVu - seems to work
I bought the VersaVu hoping it would work. Put my iPad 3 in and closed the cover and the iPad stayed on.
Later that night, I was staring at it. The VersaVu allows you to rotate the iPad so that you can stand up in landscape or portrait, so I thought I'd play with the rotation.
I rotated the iPad 180 degrees, closed the cover, and the iPad turned off with that confirmation "click" noise. Rotating it allows the cover to close in a "right handed" book style, which works for me (how most cases open). With the lid closed, there is no magnetic "pull" to keep it closed (not sure if there's supposed to be). Have to use the elastic strap to keep it shut.
Another case that worked fine for me was the Snugg case. Fit nicely, nice magnetic pull to the lid, and the iPad turned off when closed.
