I think you should toss the hit or miss category and if the on/off switch isn't reliable for everyone, it should be a miss. I think it is better to know whether or not a manufacture has addressed the reverse polarity issue by 1) having a good enough magnet to start with or 2) fixing the issue.

Anyone else have a thought?

So now that we understand that the iPad 2 was not sensitive to the magnetic polarity and the new iPad is, I think I agree with you. Maybe this should just be a list of cases who are selling only correctly working cases and those who are not.

Agreed!

OK, I changed the back to two columns. Those who have always worked/fixed the issue and those who are yet to be fixed.

I just purchased the Otterbox Defender (newer version with built in screen protection) and the sleep/wake function does not work. I just e mailed Otterbox for a reply.:(

I don't know who "confirmed" that the Piel Frama case works for the iPad 3, but I'm here to tell you it does not!!!! The magnetic sleep/wake closure does not work and the camera is partly occluded.

Likewise, the YooBao Executive does not always work, as I got one that doesn't.

Also, not that it needs more support at this point, but my son's Thomas the Tank Engine train only activates sleep/wake on my new iPad with the front magnet, where both the front and rear magnets sleep/wake my old iPad2:D
If that's not definitive, I don't know what is :)

I spoke to OtterBox customer support and they confirmed that the sleep/wake function does not work on this case. They did mention that they are in the process of making a new cover that will work and will ship it out free automatically to anyone who ordered the case from them.

I bought a Snugg iPad 3 case and the switch did not work. I wrote them today and I will see what they say.

Incipio Lexington for new iPad not working

I posted this in another forum but thought I would add it here. I pre-ordered the incipio lexington for the new iPad and I can confirm the sleep/wake function does not work. I received mine today and I am shipping it back. I will probably wait for the new Speck cases.

I also have the bear motion case and the sleep/wake does not work on it either.

Hi guys,

I work for mophie and this very morning our CEO confirmed that our workbook II is compatible with the new iPad. We're working on putting something (most likely a sticker) that will verify the compatibility on all our remaining inventory. The new workbook III will be 100% compatible when it comes out and will have a bigger camera hole as well (among other cool stuff).

Please let me know if you have any issues. :)

Got a NEW Apple Smart cover and it does not work! Will be returning to best buy and bringing in my iPad3 to test it with.

I can report that the Scosche folIO IQ p2 (previously listed on their site as being iPad 3 compatible, since removed from the list) does not work with the Smart Cover function. I have the white carbon fiber version.

Incipio Lexington no luck, they offfered free replacement in future (may be when iPad4 comes out :) ) or free return lable.
Case itself is the best possible case I've ever had. I had Targus, Marware... .

Hi BuckeyeRandy,

Our Snugg iPad3 cases' sleep/wake function does work with an iPad3, if you have one that does not work, please let us know and we can send a replacement.

I would be happy to answer any questions anyone may have on this.

Kind Regards

Marware CEO Hybrid

Marware's CEO Hybrid for the new iPad works perfectly!!!! Great case! :)
