The TriPorts sound OK and are decent as far as Bose products go, but I'd steer you more towards the Sennheiser HD line (the HD555s or the HD595s, specifically). For the $150 the TriPorts cost, you can get much better quality sound and richer aural experience from a non-Bose brand.

I have a pair of the HD515s that sound just as good if not better than the Triports for far less money, and while they're larger in size, they feel far more sturdy than any pair of TriPorts I've ever put near my head.

Having owned a pair of $300 Sennheisers in the past, the model I forget, they gave me two years of great audio until one day I accidentally dropped it from about 4 feet off the ground and the left speaker gave out. I was a little miffed about that. Another point was that even with the volume set at max on the iPod, audio from the headset was softer than I'd like.

I am attracted to the Bose for its featherweight feel and sound isolation. Guess it comes down to personal preference. :)

if we're talking about stuff that's already out, i'd like an Airport Extreme Base Station to replace my years-old (but still-working fine) d-link router.

if we're talking about stuff that hasn't yet been released (or even announced), i'd like an iPod nano with greater capacity - 10GB or more.

i have all the computers i'll need for a few years.

to add to the headphones discussion, i have a pair of Sony noise-cancelling headphones that i like a lot. i don't remember the model and i don't have them with me now but they were around $120. no problems - they work great. the sound quality on the Bose was marginally better but not worth the extra cost to me.

1) A cheap MacBook to replace my TiBook.

2) A 1U server - XServe or Cobalt Raq 4. Although ideally I would get a Qube 2 or 3.

3) A 1TB FW800 RAID0 array.

4) Even more Dorma linen.

5) A DS-Xtreme.

1. A good job (graduating in May)
2. MacBook Pro
3. Playstation 3
4. AppleTV

Thankfully, things are looking good for all 4. The AppleTV is already on order.

-A 15" Macbook Pro 2.33 ghz, 200gb 7200rpm hdd, 3 gb ram
-Leopard OS X 10.5
-A Mac Pro
-Lamborghini Mercialago
-Full ride to college (James Madison University)
-That 355 Million jackpot from a couple days ago

1) Wii
2) Xbox360 games...Mass Effect, Bioshock!
3) A pair of new headphones, my year old Etymotic 6i's crapped out :(
4) a looooooovesac, yeah baby
5) My college education payed for and my bills covered for the rest of my life

Nothing really maybe some more XBOX 360 games. I just got a new 26" TV so there's not really I want.

>Mac Pro. Probably won't be able to buy it until next year, but I'm actually going to get a real job that'll pay a lot for it, so you never know.
>Nokia S40 or S60 phone. Our family's going to do some international travel this year, and my SK3 doesn't have the 900 MHz band, which is rather important. I heard Nokia's mixing the 5300 and 3250 (my favorite) and calling it the 5700!
>I'd like to remodel my bedroom. It's mismatched, and my desk isn't a good size. The top of my iMac screen is above eye level.
>MacBook, but I think my dad's going to buy one, and we can just share it. I have close to enough money to buy one, but I realised that I'd really only absolutely need it one out of every six-eight weeks.
>New clothes. I haven't bought any in ages.
>A new keyboard. It's getting so dirty! I might buy one if Apple makes a new design, but that probably won't be for a while considering that they fit the lineup of macs perfectly (The G5 and Intel iMacs look better with the current kekyboard than the G4, IMO)

Can't think of a whole lot more!

I am saddened by this crass and obscene display of consumerism run amok. I guess I shouldn't expect less from a country that has sold its soul to the modern-day Satan that is Wal-Mart. In a country where the standard of living is going down for the average person (though they tell you otherwise); where they won't even give you the true unemployment count; where the rich have it so rigged that they are pulling away from the rest of us at warp speed; where there are so many better places to spend your hideous overabundance of cash, both here and abroad; how can you people live with yourselves? Living this kind of piggish, selfish lifestyle should burn a hole in your very conscience.

But as long as we're on the subject, I'd love to get an iPhone when it comes out. Oh, wait, and maybe a nice home theatre system -- how much are those now? And I think I deserve a convertible at this point in my life -- I mean, I'm not getting any younger.

Be careful what you ask for...

This must have been the song that won the guy the Music Award. He desperately wants those two front teeth so that he's just not so darn ugly. :(

4. Bose Triport Headphones
- I tried these Bose headphones at an Apple reseller, and was blown away. Really comfortable too.

i received a pair as a gift some time ago. they really are comfortable. i enjoyed them greatly, but i'm a fan of in-ear headphones myself, so i gave mine to my sister. as for me, i want:

1. like everybody else, a nintendo wii. i'm fine that they're not in stock anywhere. i'm just waiting for all the great games to come out. princess twilight is out, but what else? i'm waiting for super paper mario, mario galaxy and metroid.

2. :apple: iphone. i bought a shuffle so that i wouldn't have to carry my 5g ipod and my phone together, but an iphone would consolidate that even further (though not by much). mobile internet is a plus, too. i can imagine posting to macrumors from my iphone. :)

3. canon 700 is. i love that it's much slimmer than my camera, and i'm drawn to the image stabilization feature. but i already have a decent functioning camera, and it's hard to justify paying a couple hundreds bucks for something i really don't need.

4. a new macbook. this is the most irrational in my list, being that i already have one. and it's not like i have a core duo wanting a core 2 duo. i have a core 2 duo macbook, and i want another. i told you, irrational.

lighten up, Francis.

:) I love Stripes...

Honestly though I hate spending money. I find it physically painful. My wife has said that when I let go of the nickel the buffalo squeals.

I understand what you're saying and I respect your opinion, but this thread isn't in the PSR forum. It seems like you're trying to turn this into a social debate that can have some disasterious consequences.
Yes, that could indeed be disasterious. Sorry for the interruption -- it was just a modest proposal.

The funny thing (at least to me) was that you went on decrying everyone for wanting stuff, then added your own list at the end.

I figured you were just kidding about the rant!

Well, at least someone got it. Unless you're just patronizing me and pretending to get the sarcasm. ;)

I sort-of borrowed it; I couldn't have come up with all that stuff myself. If the original author recognizes it, I hope he considers it a kind of homage.
