Based on my recollection when discussing support for third-party keyboards on iOS Apple seems to go out of their way to mention that sensitive information/keystrokes can be transmitted to the keyboard developer.

Are such fears overblown or is there a way to disable transmission of such data to the keyboard devs?

I see no reason to switch from the default iOS keyboard but am curious nonetheless should I want to try out third-party keyboards in the future.

There is a checkbox when installing that asks if you want to give the developer access or not so I assume no access is given outside of the offline app unless you check this box.

I'm already impressed with the default Apple keyboard and I use the keyboard in landscape mode. Is any of these keyboards worth it?

I never thought 3rd party keyboards would be this sweet on iOS! I am using Swype for iPad and I can't wait to use it on my iPhone 6 Plus. I just keep typing over and over again:

The quick brown Fox jumped over the lazy dog.

3rd Party Keyboards not working.

I just installed fleksy and swipe. I've gone in the app to take the tutorial and I've gone in settings, general, keyboard to add them. They say they're added but when I click on the globe key and select fleksy or swipe, the keyboard area disappears and I cannot use it as a keyboard. Even inside the fleksy and swipe app I cannot use it. In order to get back to a keyboard, I've got to go into settings and delete these two keyboards then go into my texting app to find the default one available again.

Does someone have a fix for this. I originally had beta installed but I just installed the latest iOS8 around 12 pm mountain time before attempting to install these keyboards so it doesn't seem like I should have any problem. I've tried restarting and everything.

Please help if you can. thanks!

I have to go to the point of view of the year of the day I will be a good day to be a good day for me to be a good day to be a good time to get a new one is the best thing ever is when you have to be a good day to be a good time to get a good day to be a good day to day basis of the day I will be a good day to be a good day for me to be a good day to be a good time to get a good day to be a good day to day basis of the day I will be a good day to be a good day for me ;)

Hallelujah. Third-party keyboards were pretty much the only thing Android had going for it.

Except the Android OS didn't handle them securely and privately! 3rd-party SECURE keyboards remain an iOS exclusive! Third-party keyboards are kept walled off from passwords (no choice there) and even walled off from the network unless you choose to give that access.

The implementation is among the worst I've seen from Apple. All of them are super clunky to activate, none animate correctly or even work decently, and they just feel like hacks, nothing close to a native experience. Pretty appalling.

Minuum and swype work the least for me, Fleksy is alright but still feels quarter-baked.

Hoping for an iOS 6 and older style keyboard with similar layout and size. For whatever reason, I was able to type much faster in that setup (I still have old iPod Touches and such).

So far Fleksy is working a treat for me, I enjoy being able to change sizes, and the default black theme is a nice reduction in the overall bright feel of new world iOS.

Not getting the hype on keyboards

If we couldn't type efficiently with the iPhone all these years, why were we buying it? I am more excited about widgets, a feature we haven't had on the iPhone.

Is it still easy to switch amongst keyboards?

The flesky video doesn't show the globe icon, for example

I think I'll wait until the dust settles in a few months and decide then. I'm pretty happy with the native iOS keyboard but some of these look promising as well.

Some people like to swipe.

Some people think the keyboard is too big.

Some people want to have a gif library available in a moment's notice.

Some people want a true persian keyboard, without having to use the arabic keyboard.

Some people want long lines of text ready to paste in at a moment's notice.

It's not just about typing efficiently.
