so using one of these 3rd party keyboards means the developer gets to see what you type? and they also use a users Facebook and google + account to check on words they use so they can speed up the keyboard?

in effect these are keyboard loggers right?

Disappointing that there's no separate toggle for network access. That's all I really want. Apparently "Full Access" includes network AND access to settings. At least it does if you believe the TouchPal app. Which means that you can't customize it and save settings without also exposing every keystroke to the network?? Ridiculous.

Trying the two free keyboards listed above, so far nothing to write home about. I guess all I really want is the ability to swipe in the default Apple keyboard.

Really, the only reason I even want a 3rd party keyboard, is so I can theme it and make it dark. SwiftKey for iOS, however, was not the answer. It's great on my Android device but, there are too many diffeences in iOS. It doesn't feel like the same app. Very disappointed. Like someone else stated, it is NOT system wide. SwiftKey does NOT work in messaging quick reply. Also, there are no sound effects. Apple's refusal to allow haptic feedback is beyond me so, I need the clicks. Not there and no apparant way to turn them on with SwiftKey.

All I really want is to make the stock iOS keyboard dark...all the time. Hmm. Guess I'll have to wait for an iOS 8 jailbreak.

Disappointing that these third party keyboards can't use shortcuts.

That makes them not so great.

Hallelujah. Third-party keyboards were pretty much the only thing Android had going for it.

Well, that and bigger screens, keyboard suggestions, notification center, control center, responding to notifications directly, inter-app communication, browser sync, backing up photos to cloud, privacy/do not disturb, widgets, "Ok Google" / "Hey Siri", and a bunch of other things Apple "borrowed" from Google and Samsung to include in iOS 7 and iOS 8.

Swiftkey is an amazing keyboard that I have been waiting for Apple to finally allow! It's one of the things that Android had going for it that is no longer the case. The link to the app is on the Swiftkey site too, in case you're having trouble finding it.

The implementation is among the worst I've seen from Apple. All of them are super clunky to activate, none animate correctly or even work decently, and they just feel like hacks, nothing close to a native experience. Pretty appalling.

Minuum and swype work the least for me, Fleksy is alright but still feels quarter-baked.

This is one of my concerns with these new updates. One things I love about my ios devices is how smooth they work. Everything is not all clunky like on my friends android phones. I'll take limited but stable over do everything unstably any day.

Android's third-party keyboard support has been stable for years.

It appears Apple's poor implementation is half-baked at best. Looks like it could have used a few more months in the oven, but Apple really wanted to rush the 6 Plus out to market before the Note 4.

Definitely my least favorite of the new iOS features. This just brings Android clunk to IOS. :(

Wow! Look at all if these wonderful keyboards that I'll NEVER use.

It's okay. Calm down. You'll eventually get used to have a lot of options for apps and won't get rattled anymore when you realized that there are a ton of options out there and you don't have to use everything made by Apple only. Freedom is beautiful ;)

I purchased Swype, and so far it's kinda laggy

When I open a text from notification center, it doesn't jump to the last message. I have to scroll down

Not sure if that's due to iOS or Swype.. Hopefully it's fixed in due time

I have a 5C

Wait, so can these keyboards be made system-wide or do you have to use the separate apps? I downloaded the swiftkey app but it didn't install the keyboard.

Are the dedicated cut and paste buttons we saw at the keynote not available for iPad Airs? Is it an iPhone 6 exclusive?
