Any keyboards out there that have a row of number keys on top?

And maybe quick access to punctuation too? Especially on the iPad I'd like more of a traditional QWERTY layout.

While it's probable, I'm going to have to ask you to show your work on that.

eh search for Dvoark keyboard for iPhone on Google. If you can't find it let me know, and I'll check myself.

People have been modifying the stock iOS keyboard for years. Also, even though they did this before Android, i don't consider it an innovation. It's just a third party app...

I remember that. The Dvorak keyboard on iPhone was a hack that basically just swapped the letters around on the keyboard map. It wasn't a full-on replacement, or a skin.

WARNING WARNING WARNING.

I just had to restore my iPhone due to a bug with the third party keyboards. I opened a bug report for Apple.

If you add a third party keyboard, DO NOT remove the default English keyboard, especially if you have a complex password with characters like I do.

In the initial login screen after a reboot (and maybe every time, I don't know since i use TouchID mostly), it asks for your password, but it WILL NOT DISPLAY the third party keyboards. Result: you can't enter your password. Only a restore will help you there.

It was a modification of the original iOS keyboard package, which had to be installed through Cydia's installer app.

Not sure how that's any different from installing an apk or downloading a keyboard from the play store.

I tried SwiftKey, Fleksy, and Swype -- and I have to be honest when I say that SwiftKey is by far the best of them all. I've already deleted the other two. For me it registers both my swipes and regular typing far the best out of the three -- I like it because I can still type as if it's a regular keyboard and yet all of the button placements are still familiar. a++!

That seems to be the majority opinion so far in this thread. Funny, because I despise Swiftkey on Android lol. I use Swype exclusively. I tried Swiftkey and hated it. My iPad is jailbroken so I can't try Swiftkey on iOS yet, but I'll deifnitely check it out to see.

Best Keyboard?

Minimuum is slick and adds more screen real estate but still requires tapping.

TouchPal actually seems the best of the swipe keyboards but for some reason is not as popular and does not have enough downloads for ratings.

Very disappointing that Swiftkey is not supporting swipe on iPad. Is that a feature or a bug?

Also something else I noticed is that you can't use Swiftkey (and likely other third party keyboards) in the quick reply function to SMS :(

Works for me, even on the lock screen.

I guess it's bad when Android takes concepts and features from iOS, but totally fine when iOS takes them from Android.

BECAUSE THATS INNOVATION!!! :apple:

Awww, it's so cute you think Android invented 3rd party keyboards.

Its only a concern if you enable full access, but even then I think you're just being paranoid.

I don't blame you. I'm weary of anyone logging my keystrokes.

Sure, apps like 1password use TouchID, but sometimes it seems to require typing in the master password, and I don't want anyone to have that.

I am typing this on Fleksy and its an absolute dream!! I just can't stop typing its just that much fun #

..and fleksy's servers have recorded what you just typed?

Swift key works well

Swift key works well but boy is it ugly. Even the light coloured theme is awful. And the branding on the space bar....

Weird Bug with 3rd party keyboards

1. Activate 3rd Party Keyboard.
2. Send someone a text message - click to go home after sending.
3. Wait for them to respond.
4. Click on Messages App.
5. See full screen, wait a second, and then see 3rd party keyboard, displayed OVER your newly received text message.

Is that just me, or anyone else?

Swype works well but there are some minor bugs to sort out such is it not always coming up and sometimes I would type and nothing would get entered into the text box.

Swiftkey's keyboard doesn't show up when you don't enable full access. This app should not be approved. New low for Apple.

I've tried SwiftKey and TouchPal so far, and there are some things I like and don't like about each.

Aesthetically TouchPal looks better to me. It looks like the stock iOS keyboard. SwiftKey looks visually bulkier.

Functionality wise there are pros and cons to both. TouchPal is great in that it offers quick access to numbers, common punctuation, and Emoji without having to switch to the secondary symbol keyboard or to the stock Emoji keyboard. The only major annoyance I have with it is that characters don't get "entered" into the text field until you tap the word/character on the prediction line, hit space, punctuate, or start gesture typing a new word. This adds an annoying and unnecessary extra step when populating instant search fields, Spotlight, photo/username tagging within apps, etc.

On the flip side, SwiftKey is almost the exact opposite. It enters text as you type, so that's a huge improvement over TouchPal. However, it lacks all the quick access gestures to the numbers, punctuation, and Emoji that TouchPal has.

I'll probably stick with SwiftKey for now because the non-immediate text entry is a huge annoyance to me. Ideally I would like to have TouchPal's looks and functionality with the way how SwiftKey enters text immediately.

I'd like to try out Swype or the other keyboards, but I don't want to pay for them if since I would dump them immediately if I don't like them.

Well, that and bigger screens, keyboard suggestions, notification center, control center, responding to notifications directly, inter-app communication, browser sync, backing up photos to cloud, privacy/do not disturb, widgets, "Ok Google" / "Hey Siri", and a bunch of other things Apple "borrowed" from Google and Samsung to include in iOS 7 and iOS 8.

Full backup to the iCloud was done right first on an Apple device since iOS 5. Don't rewrite history.

Android's third-party keyboard support has been stable for years.

It appears Apple's poor implementation is half-baked at best. Looks like it could have used a few more months in the oven, but Apple really wanted to rush the 6 Plus out to market before the Note 4.

New iPhones has been coming out in September since 2011.

I actually really love apples keyboard... In messages. I absolutely hate the period placement in safari while using the search bar. To this day I hit it with almost every search.

If only there was a way to use the official aplle messages kb in different apps the way you would like.

Even if it is better as a keyboard for safari (imo it is not), it doesn't make any sense to move stuff around depending on the app. The space bar is in a very specific spot. It being loves even slightly makes not sense.

OMG!! Yes, thank goodness I'm not the only one having this issue. Hate the period placement.

I downloaded the TouchPal demo app a while ago... and I loved their T+ keyboard.

But I don't see it in the iOS 8 version. Did I just overlook it?

That would be really cool for 5s, but I think if you upgrade 6 ,might not be the best.

That's so weird. One thing I noticed which I thought was weird is that any passwords pull up the apple keyboard (which makes sense so that passwords aren't stored in the thirdparty keyboard db)

LOL. Amazing...

Remember FITALY? I missed that keyboard on wino 5 & 6. Best for stylus, not sure about finger input.

Is swiftkey not working for anyone else? I have it installed and turned on in settings (with full access) yet the keyboard never pulls up... I get the standard apple one (iPhone 5s). Any suggestions?

You have to click the little earth icon on the keyboard to switch to a different keyboard.
